Recovering From The Attack

When I wake up I see Annabeth, Piper, and Jason standing around me and Percy. Percy seemed to be back up.

"Looks who's awake," Percy says.

"What'd you hit your head on? It was bleeding really bad,"Annabeth asks.

"The pole back there. When shrimpzilla attacked and rocked the boat I fell back and hit it," I say.

"Your heal job wasn't very good. You bleed out a lot," Jason says.

I touch the back of my head where I hit it.

"It wasn't a serious injury. Your just lucky it didn't crack your skull," Annabeth says.

"Where's everyone else?" I ask.

"They kinda sorta disappeared. And we kinda sorta don't know where they are. They fell out of the boat," Piper says.

I choke a little, "they what? Why aren't we looking for them?"

"I plan to, but Annabeth won't let me get up," Percy says.

"I still can't rule out a concusion, seaweed brain," Annabeth says, "and you, your head is still pretty bad. It better after some ambrosia but not ready for you to go out yet."

"How long was I out?" I asked.

"About a day," Percy says amused.

"Oh... wait does that mean that Leo, Hazel, and Frank have been gone for a day now?" I ask.

"Please Annabeth. I'm going to look for them," Percy says.

"Dido," I say.

Percy and I both get out of bed. Before Annabeth could grab us we make a run for the stairs.

Percy and I jump in and sink to the bottom. We scour the bottom of the ocean.

We searched for hours but found nothing. By the time we came back up the sun was rising. We got back on the boat but not without some disapproving looks from Annabeth.

She gave me some ambrosia. We all say feeling awkward. The ship was no longer in danger of sinking but without Leo we couldn't do full repairs. It was capable of sailing but none of us suggested leaving the area without our missing friends.

Annabeth had sent a dream vision to chiron warning him about the Roman's upcoming attack. We decided to send an Iris message to check up on the camp. Tyson, Mrs. O'Leary, and Ella had arrived safely.

After the call we continue to pace the deck nervously hoping for a sign from the other demigods.

When it finally came, in the form of pink bubbles holding the three of them, Piper went a little crazy. She let out a squeal before jumping into the water. I see her swim over and give Leo kiss on the cheek. I could see from her face she didn't really know why. It must have just been spur of the moment thing.

"Miss me?" Leo asks.

Pipers face shifts to anger, "Where we're you? How are you guys alive?"

"Long story," Leo says. A picnic basket bobs to the surface next to him, "want a brownie?"

Once they all got back board and changed into dry clothes we had a celebration breakfast. Hazel and Frank told us about their fish story.

"Incredible. These are really good brownies," Jason says.

"That's you only comment?" Piper asks.

"What? I heard the story. Fish centaurs. Merepeople. Letter of intro to the river river god. Got it. But these brownies ..." Jason says.

"I know! Try them with the peach preserves," frank says.

I think I might have barfed a little right there. Percy and I asked lots of questions about the underwater camp. We came back to one point a lot though.

"So they didn't want to meet us?" Percy asks baffled.

"I wasn't that. It's just.... undersea politics, I guess. The merepeople are territorial," Hazel says.

"That make sense," I say taking a bite out of my bagel.

"What do you mean that makes sense. There's no undersea politics. Dad is in charge and that's that," Percy says.

I give him a what the hell look, "yah but maybe it's intimidating for them to meet us since we're practically royalty to them."

"Oh see that makes sense," Percy says.

"Don't flatter yourselves," Jason says.

"Anyways the good news is that they're going to take care of the aquarium in Atlanta. And they says they'd help protect the Argo ll as we cross the Atlantic," hazel says.

"But they didn't want to meet us?" Percy says.

"I thought we came up with this solution," I say.

"Still... I like us. We're awesome," Percy says.

"While I agree-" I get cut off.

"Guys! Focus. After today we only have three days left to save Nico. The fish centaurs say we have to rescue him. He's essential to our quest somehow," hazel says.

"Nico must have information about the doors of death. We'll save him Hazel. We can make it in time. Right Leo?" Piper asks.

"What? Oh yah. We should reach the Mediterranean tomorrow morning. Then spend the rest of that day sailing to atone, or flying if I can get the stabilizer fixed by then..." Leo says.

We talk about the idea of only having twenty four hours to find Nico. We then switch to the mark of Athena. Annabeth's map is weirdly blank. We decide it must have something to do with only revealing itself to her when she's alone.

(Btw all of this is me being to lazy to make all the dialogue so we're summarizing! Yah! 😁)We talk about the Tiber river and the coin Annabeth's mom gave her. Annabeth describes what happened to her at fort Sumter. (Ok do I really need to go into details about the Athena parthenos? You can't answer so I'm doing a little time skip. I'm currently writing this at 11:30 in the morning so...)

"It'll all work out. You'll see. Annabeth is going to kick some serious booty," Piper says.

Judging from the very half eaten breakfast it was obvious the crew was still a little uneasy.

"Well!" Leo says, "Good pep rally, but there's still a ton of things to fix in this ship. Please report to Supreme Commander Leo for your superfun list of chores."
