"What are they?" Hazel asks.

We had gathered on the starboard rail standing at dozens of shaggy haired monsters milling through the crowds. Each was the size of cow.

I watched one wonder across the promenade, shuffling and licking the pavement. The tourist parted around it and some even petted it. It's appearance flicker fir a moment into a old beagle.

Jason grunted, "The mortals think they're stray dogs."

"Or pats roaming around," Piper says, "My dad shot a film in Venice once. He said there were dogs everywhere. Venetians love dogs."

I always forget pipers dad is an A-list movie star. I've watched maybe one of his movies every. It wasn't bad, actually it was really good, I just don't watch movies that much. Either way Piper is so down to earth for a kid raised in Hollywood. She basically grew up the opposite of me and Percy. I can't even imagine living like that.

"But what are they?" Frank asks, "They look like shaggy cows with sheepdog hair."

A silence hangs in the air. None of have an answer.

"Maybe they're harmless," Leo says.

"Harmless?" Coach demands.

"I agree with coach. How many harmless monster have you ever met?" I ask.

"Thank you girl Jackson. I vote we should just aim the ballistae and see what happens," Coach says.

Even with Percy gone I'm still just girl Jackson. Percy is Jackson and I'm girl Jackson. Why isn't he boy Jackson?

"Nope. That's we're out opinions differ Coach," I say.

Coach looks sad at my answer. He grumbles to himself.

"We'll have to walk through them and hope they're peaceful," Frank says, "It's the only way we're going to track down the owner of that book."

Leo pulls out the leather bound manual that he got from the dwarfs in bologna.

"La casa nera," Leo read, "Calle Frezzeria."

"The black house," Nico translates, "Calle Frezzeria is the street."

"You speak Italian?" Frank asks.

Duh, he Italian. Di Angelo is a Italian. I guess he wouldn't know Nico came from the past like hazel. Nico shoots him a warning look.

"Frank is right. We have to find that address. The only way to do it is walk the city. Venice is a maze. We'll have to rush the crowds and those... whatever they are," Nico says.

Thunder rumbles in the clear sky. We'd passed through the storm the night before.

Jason frowned at the horizon, "Maybe I should stay on board. Lots of venti in that storm last night. If they decide to attack the ship again..."

He didn't need to finish. We'd all had experience angry wind spirits and a Jason really was the only one with an success fighting them.

"Well, I'm out to if your going on a stroll without hitting those things," Coach says.

"Well..." Piper shifts, "whoever goes needs to be good with animals and uh... I don't get along with cows."

"I'll go," Frank says.

Lei requests some building supplies like this is a shopping trip.

"I'll go. I'm tired of this ship and the sky. The canals have water down there. Anything but the sky," I say looking up thinking about Zeus.

"I'll go too," Nico says.

"Nico... your not good with animals," I say.

"Yah, but if I go I may be able to keep them at bay. Beside you know I speak Italian," Nico says.

"I'll go," Hazel says grabbing Franks hand, "four is the best number for a demigod quest right?"

Nico looks fine at the canals, "all right. Let's go find the owner of that book."

Duh he's Italian is a joke I have with my friend so I just felt obligated to add it in and then I needed a title so... also if you haven't noticed my titles suck. Thx for reading anyways 💖🔱🌊🗡✨
