We sat at a set of couches that were carted to the forum. Romans lounged in groups of ten or twenty, talking and laughing. Wind spirits swirled over head bringing endless assortments of food. Drifting through the crowds were Lares. Around the edge of the feast was fauna, or Roman satyrs.
Reyna and her officers plus Octavian sat down with us. Percy joined them with his new friends Frank and Hazel.
Percy sits between me and Annabeth. He leans over and whispers something in Annabeth's ear. I look down at the tattoo on Percy's arm. It was like Jason's. Part of me felt hurt. As much as I don't like when people say we're alike, something about that slight difference ticked me off. The whole meal Octavian was eyeing me down.
After introductions all around, the Romans and our crew began to share stories. Jason talked about his arrival at camp. His quest with Leo and Piper to rescue hera, or I guess Juno, from the wolf house.
"Impossible! That's our most sacred place. If the giants had imprisoned a goddess there-" Octavian was cut off.
"They would've destroyed her, and blamed it on the Greeks. Started a war between the camps, yah. Now be quiet and let Jason finish," Piper says weaving in some charmspeak.
Octavian opened his mouth but no sound came out. Reyna looked back and forth between Jason and Piper, realizing they're a couple.
Jason finishes his story and talks about the trip to Greece. Percy nodded thoughtfully. He recounts his side of the story. He talks about waking up at the wolf house remembering nothing but Annabeth and me.
I look at Annabeth and she looked ready to cry even though she already knew that.
Percy talked about traveling to Alaska with Frank and Hazel. He defeated the giant Alcyoneus, freed the death god, and returned the golden eagle in time to repel an attack by the giants army.
When Percy finished Jason whistled appreciatively, "no wonder they made you Praetor."
"Which means we now have three praetors! The rules clearly state we can only have two!" Says Octavian.
"On the bright side Jason and I both outrank your so we can both tell you to shut up," Percy says.
Him and Jason fist bump. It's a good sign they're getting along.
"You know Perc, since Jason was your replacement that means he kind of was my replacement twin," I say waiting to see his reaction.
He looks at Jason. I look at Jason too begging for him to play along with me.
"Yah, sure I'll be your new twin," he says with a smile.
"Good luck with her. She gets emotional and levels buildings," Percy says.
"I haven't fully leveled one yet. I got close when I found out you were missing. And then the one at the last battle I sent a bunch of monsters tumbling into the ground but no building came down," I say.
"What are you guys talking about? She can level buildings?" Asks Reyna.
"Theoretically yes. But not really by choice. Child of Poseidon. Percy got all the cool water powers but at first we thought all I got was the horses side but a few months ago we found out when I have strong negative emotions like anger, fear, or sadness I make earthquakes. The stronger the emotion the bigger the earthquake," I explain, "long story short Pec got the cooler powers. My earthquakes are involuntary and there's no way to control them. They just happen and they just keep going until I calm down."
"Oh, you made the ground shake when you yelled at Percy," says Hazel.
I nod kind of ashamed.
"Anyways, we'll figure out this Praetor problem later," Reyna says, "right now we have more serious issues to deal with."
"I'll step aside for Jason. No biggie," Percy says.
"No biggie?" Octavian chokes, "The praetorship of Rome is no biggie?"
"Oh Perc, by the way when you went missing I dubbed myself head councilor of the Poseidon cabin, so your no longer in charge," I say.
"I'll fight you for it," Percy says.
"Can't I just be in charge for once?" I ask.
"Fine," Percy mumbles. He turns to Jason, "so your Thalia's brother, huh? Wow. You guys look nothing alike."
"Yeah I noticed. Anyways, thanks for helping my camp while I was gone. You did an awesome job," Jason says.
"Back at you," Percy says.
Percy lets out a yelp and I look at Annabeth. She had a poised but bored look on her face.
"We should talk about the great prophecy. It sounds like the Roman's are aware of it too?" Annabeth says.
"We call it the prophecy of the eight. Octavian, you have it commutes to memory," Reyna says.
"Of course. But Reyna," Octavian tries to protest.
"Recite it please," Reyna says sternly, "In English not Latin."
"Seven half-bloods shall answer the call. To storm it fire the world must fall," he stops to take a breath but Annabeth blurts out the next lines.
"An oath to keep with final breath and foes bear arms to door of death," she says.
Everyone, except Leo who had distracted himself with a tinfoil pinwheel, looked at Annabeth.
"Is it true your a child of Min- I'm mean Athena?" Frank asks.
"Yes. Why is that such a surprise?" Annabeth asks defensively.
Octavian scoffs, "if you're truly a child of the goddess of wisdom-" Reyna cuts him off.
"Enough," Reyna snaps, "Annabeth is what she says. She's here in peace. Besides.... Percy has spoken highly of you," Reyna says with an undertone.
I look over to Percy. His eyes draw down to the cheeseburger. Reyna made a move on him. My big brothers has yet another girl coming at him. Yet he only wants Annabeth.
