The Poison

Two basilisks shoot towards Percy and I. We both slice one in half. About twelve more come in swirling around us. One bite is all it would take.

Jason tries desperately to destruct them but they only seemed interested in us. Percy and I stayed back to back. Jason summons some lightning frying the snakes.

Percy and I raise our sword to him. Percy girls himself at the giant first. The giant waves his hand letting out a black oil poison. Before Percy could stop he ran straight into it. He drops riptide.

I take charge at the giant. And just like Percy I get engulfed in the poisoned oil. I drop my sword and I fall helplessly next to my brother.

Percy and I struggle in our nets. It was obviously not working but I had no other plan. It was getting harder to breath. I could see my brother face turning green.

I could hear Polybotes and Jason talking but I couldn't quite make out what they were saying. I see Jason trying to fight Polybotes and trying to win Kym over.

It was getting harder to move. I could feel the poison seeping into my blood. It was slowing me down. I hated the idea of dying under water and in my dads palace.

I hear Jason say something about Kym action figures but that just could have been the poison.

I see Kym throw her disk and Polybotes head float off.

Jason rushes over to us. He cuts Percy out then me. He places us against a wall. He engulfs us in an airy shell of his venti. Whatever he did it worked.

I double over and throw up slightly. Percy looks like he's close to doing the same thing.

"You had me worried there," says Jason.

"I blink a little, "it's all still a little fuzzy but... did you say something about a Kym action figure?"

The goddess looms over us, "Indeed he did. And I expect him to deliver."

We talk for a few more minutes about the logistics of the gods being recognized, the briares, Percy's fatal flaw (which is also mine but honestly Percy is way worse than I am).

We leave. Jason was running out of air. Percy and I needed to take a minute. We still were trying to catch our breath.

"Thanks," I say to Jason.

"Yah dude, you saved our lives," says Percy.

"Hey that's what friends are for," says Jason.

"But uh... Jupiter guy saving not one but two poseidon kids at the bottom of the ocean... maybe we should keep those details to ourselves. We'll never hear the end of it," I say.

"You got it. How you guys feeling?"

"Better," I say.

I look at Percy. He was in some deep thoughts but I didn't want to interrupt. He didn't  by have to many of those.

"Why did Kym call you Pontiac?" Asks Percy.

Jason laughs, "Pontifex. It means priest."

"Oh," Percy frowns, "will you have to wear collars and bless people?"

Jason explains to us that a pontifex just makes sure all gods get proper sacrifices and whatnot.

"So you mean it?" I ask, "your literally going to try and build a shrine for all the minor gods?"

"Yeah," says Jason, "I never really thought about it before. But I like the idea of going back I forth between camps. Assuming we make it through the next week and the two camps still exist. What you two did last year, on Olympus, turning down immortality and asking the gods to play nice- that's noble."

Percy grunts, "believe me, some days I regret the choice. Oh, you want to turn down our offer? Ok fine! Zap! You loose your memory! Go to Tartarus!"

"Honestly, I rejected it for another reason," I say blushing. I could feel Percy smiling at me, "But the gods decided to have another giant quest. Keep you as far away from your reason to turn down immortality as possible. And then pretty much putting my brother in as much danger and shit as possible. But what we traded it for was great. I had no plans. I was just glad Percy didn't want to either because I'm almost positive he wouldn't have done it without me and I'd feel bad if he had to reject it just because of me."

Percy nods like he would have.

"You guys did what a hero would have. I admire you guys for that. The least I can do, if we survive, I'd continue that work- make sure all the gods get some recognition. Who knows? If the gods get along better maybe we can stop these wars," says Jason.

"That would defiantly be good," I say.

"You look different," says Percy looking at Jason, "better different. Does your wound still hurt?"

"My wound..." Jason says.

He lifts his shirt and pulls away the bandage.

"It's gone!" He exclaims, "I feel completely normal! What the heck?"

"You beat it man!" Says Percy, "you found your own cure."

Jason looks stunned, "come on. Let's go check on our ship."
