Leo has a stupid idea of close. We walked for about half an hour through hot frills getting eaten by mosquitoes. We finally reached the road. An old billboard for Bubba's gas n grub indicated we were forty miles from the first Topeka exit.

"Correct my math but doesn't that mean we have eight miles to walk," Percy says.

Jason looks down the roads.

"No cars.... But I guess we wouldn't want to hitchhike," Jason says.

"No," I mumble.

"We've already spent too much time going overland. The earth is Gaea's territory," Piper says.

"I'll call us a ride," Jason says.

"Oh yeah? Me too. Let's see whose friends gets here first," Percy says.

"I bet mine beats both of yours," I say giving a whistle.

The boys call their rides after me but moonbeam beats them both by a mile.

"Sup lord," she says.

"This isn't fair. Your run to your side just because you need them. Even if you don't need them," Percy mumbles.

"So does yours," I say.

Speak of the devil, I see blackjack come prancing in.

"A black Pegasus? Never seen one like that," Piper says.

"Hi boss," the Pegasus says.

Percy waves petting his muzzle.

"Can we get donuts?" Blackjack asks.

"No," I say.

Blackjack lets out a grunt.

"Maybe later,"Percy says.

"What did he want?" Piper asks.

I always forget normal people don't understand what they say.

"Donuts. Always donuts," I say.

A moment later the air gets cold and the win begins to swirl. The storm comes down and hits the ground taking the shape of a horse.

"Tempest. Long time no see," Jason says.

Percy and my Pegasus gives a buck.

"Easy it's a friend," I say as they back off, "nice ride Grace."

Jason shrugs, "I made friends with him during our fight at the wolf house. He's a few spirit, literally, but once and a while he agrees to help me."

"I don't think we need her," I say, "back to camp," I tell moonbeam.

She takes a running start before taking off. Percy helps he up onto Blackjack with him while Piper climbs into tempest.

We get going with Tempest racing down the road and Blackjack flying over him. In no time we reached the twenty three mile marker.

Blackjack landed. Both pawed at the asphalt. Neither were happy to stop running so soon.

"I do t see him, boss," Blackjack says.

"You're right. No sign of wine dude," Percy says.

"I beg your pardon?" Says a voice from behind us.

Blackjack shoots us around to see a man emerging from out of no where.

"Did some one just call me wine dude?" He asks, "It's Bacchus, please. Or Mr. Bacchus. Or Lord Bacchus. Or sometimes oh my gods don't kill me Lord Bacchus," Bacchus says.

Percy urges blackjack forward, but the aphasia wasn't happy to do so. I could sense that.

The boys talk for a minute but I take a second to feel out the horses. I can learn a lot from the horses moods.
