"My lord," Ethan tries again, "your not at full power. We should ascend and raise your brothers. Our orders were to flee."
The Titan whirled on him, "Flee? Did you say Flee?!"
The ground rumbled. Ethan fell on his butt and scrambled backwards. The unfinished sword clattered on the rocks, "M- m- master please-"
"IAPETUS DIES NOT FLEE! I have waited three wins to be summoned from that pit. I want revenge. And I will start by killing these weaklings!"
He levels his spear at Percy. He charges at him. Percy could barely hold his sword up. Thalia shoots his flank full of arrows.
I square up with Tidal wave taking slices at his legs. He tries to kick me away but I dodge. Nico was dealing with Ethan.
My brother gets up and attacks. I jump up and take a stab at the giant in his calf. His yells and whirls around. He slams me sending me into a pile of rocks by the river Lethe.
"I will kill you first!" He yells wobbling towards me. The rest of them were try desperately to distract him, "I will through your souls into the eternal darkness of Tartarus!"
I had hit my head. My vision was slightly blurry. I could barely move. Another inch and I would be in the river.
Then it hits me.
"You're- you're even uglier than your son!" I yell, "I can see where atlas gets his stupidity from."
The rest of the group trying to figure out my plan. Honestly though I barely had a plan just a small possibility. I had to shape it into a plan.
I prayed that I had the strength for this. Or that I was even capable of doing this at all.
Iapetus brings his spear down at me. I lurch sideways. The shaft impales the ground next to me. I reach up and grab his shirt collar, counting on his being off balance as well as hurt.
I pull him forward with all my body weight. He stumbled and fell, grabbing my arm in panic, and together we fall into the Lethe.
I kept only one word in my mind: dry.
I prayed to Poseidon that my protection would hold. As I sank to the bottom I realized I was still dry. I still knew my name. I keep a hold on Iapetus's shirt collar.
With the last bit of strength I had I climbed out of the river dragging Iapetus along with me. I flop on the ground exhausted.
The three of them stand around me amazed. I let out a huff. My breathing was still heavy.
"Honestly I'm as surprised that worked as you guys are," I say.
Ethan had just finished off the skeletons Nico had set on him. He see Iapetus laying next me still unconscious.
"M-my lord?" Ethan stutters.
Iapetus sits up looking around, "Who- who am I?"
"Bob!" My brother shouts, "your Bob and your our friend."
This seemed to please him, "I'm Bob your friend."
Nico helps me up off the ground.
Ethan could tell things weren't going his way. He glances at the sword of hades, but before he could lunge at it a silver arrow sprouts at his feet.
"Not today kid," Thalia warns, "one more step and I pin you to the rocks."
Ethan ran straight into the cave of melinoe. Thalia aims at his back.
"No. Let him go," Percy says.
She friend but lowers her bow. I have no idea why my brother would let him go. I mean he sure caused us all a great inconvenience.
Nico picks up the sword of hades, "we did it. We actually did it."
I smile broadly.
"We did?" Iapetus asks, "did I help?"
Percy manages a weak smile, "Yeah Bob. You did great."
