ANNA

"...Anna, you're engaged. Of course, it's worth celebrating." The green eyed, brown haired girl says. Her hands resting on her hips. Her lips purse, threatening to form a frown. Carmiya Montgomery, my best friend since forever.

"Miya—"

"No. Save it." She glared and I try my best not to laugh.

"You can't be mad about this." I say. Getting off the couch walking over to her in our tiny kitchen. Our little apartment in the heart of pavilon, with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. It wasn't too big nor small. It was just right for two young adults who are trying to survive. The colorful walls were a bright yellow, and a few greens here and there. Pictures and art canvases scattered on the walls with plants in every corner.

I watch her angrily spread some Jam on her bread.

"Miya." She ignores me. I take the opportunity to seize her arms by pulling her in for a hug.

"Anna—"

"Shhh..."

A quiet moment passes then a sigh from her. She's just about two inches taller than me. I watch her. Her green eyes, find my brown orbs and her tiny lips split into a smile.

"I just want to celebrate this great milestone, you know. you never allow yourself to feel and then now that i's happened-you summoned  yourself a man, you don't-i just want you to be happy, be proud of yourself." Her fingers play with a loose curl.

"And I understand."

Her brows come up. "So we are going out tonight?"

I really don't want to go out. But she's hardly here with me anymore.

"Your boyfriend has been stealing you away from me Yaya." I fold my arms across my chest.
Her eyes softened.

"I know. You'll meet him soon, he's coming into town." She says, biting into her sandwich. Whenever she talks about him, her eyes just light up. And I'm so glad she has someone who makes her feel like herself and loves her for her. She can be a handful at times, coming off as a tough girl. But she's just a big softie.

"He better be all that you say, or else we are going to have a problem."

"Are you jealous?"
I scoff, and roll my eyes, flashing the radiant ring on my left hand.

"You wish"

She breaks into a fit of laughter, and I couldn't help but join. I return to my spot on the couch, and she joins me a few seconds later to finish her snack as I study for the next exam I have.
Later that night we dolled up and left for the nightclub downtown.
