MICHAEL
Silence filled the room for the next few minutes that went by. i forced myself to calm down and push my anger aside. i concentrated, listening in to my surroundings.
there was a flow of water...the sound of water coming from somewhere. i whirled around, my eyes scanning the room and they land on another door in the room.
never have i moved so quickly in my life.
i grabbed the handle, twisting a few times but it was locked. probably barricaded. i tried knocking it down by using my body but it didn't budge.
that didn't stop me. i kept at it. i need to save my wife. i needed to take her home with me.
"Anna!" i yelled, calling for her. hoping to hear her soft, lavender voice on the other side.
hoping she would tell me she was okay. with every hit to the door, with every strength her yelled her name. but there was nothing. and my chest deflated with every second. constricting painfully.
"Anna!" my body collides with the door again.
fuck. come on, please open.
i try again and it gives way.
"Anna?..." my voice cracks as my eyes raked the small-it was a bathroom. my heart tripped, i froze for a good agonizing heart beat and then my knees give out under me at the sight before me.
please be okay...please be okay.
"don't fucking look at her!" i yelled at the officers who rushed in, standing there. they were just fucking standing there.
"Anna...open your eyes baby." i whispered, crawling to her body. " i came for you...i came for my girls. Anna?" i gently gathered her in my arms, cradling her head in my hands. she was bare and naked. with bruises and blood coating her body. every noise and sound from my surroundings is drowned out. blood rushes in my ear. my heart is beating a mile per second threating to fall out.
"Anna?, love?" i tried again but she didn't move. my chest hollows, there was nothing. no sign of life. It's like my whole world is crushing down when she didn't stir nor respond to my touch. her body was... cold. her brown skin looks dull-pale compared to its glowing shade. i scan her body for any more injuries, large purplish bloody bruises all over her body and then my gaze falls on the tiny person in her arms, laying on her chest.
a baby?
there's a baby. on my wife's chest.
my heat skips a beat, it slows down. it was like i was having an out of body experience. A whole moment goes by before it dawns on me. the crushing weight that draws soul shaking tears out of me. my whole body trembles. i pulled my wife close, wrapping my arms around my girls. i let out a loud roar, crying. shuddering sobs shook my entire body. it hurt to fucking breathe.
"call the fucking ambulance!" I yelled. my lips trembled, warm liquid spilling uncontrollably. running down my face. i was crying my eyes out like a baby. my chest tightening. i can't imagine what he did to her. the agony he put her through and i wish i could wake him up, just to tear him apart over and over again.
f*ck.
i quickly shrug off my button down, covering them with it.
please be okay.
"Anna." i puller her closer. the grip she has on the baby is so tight, so i stopped trying to pry her arms off. wrapping my arms around the both of them. Our daughter... she was breathing but it was quite shallow. Anna still had a pulse but she was barely breathing. i stare at her, my tears falling on her face. her eyes closed, shielding her beautiful brown orbs from me. my heart fucking hurts. this pain is unbearable.
