The next day"It turned out beautiful!" Mari's voice was soft but appreciative as she reached out to touch the tiles above the sink. I loved them so much. The mural was stunning and it really did break up the blue. "The guys are masters, they really are. My house is so well crafted. I cried when I finally moved in." The female turned to look at me. "How do you feel about it?" She gestured around and I looked at the space, at the second hand table and chairs, at the flooring, at the counters, and at the walls that were painted a nice beige grey.
I had moved in with Maeve yesterday, Duffy had moved into her small house as well. The house still smelled like cut wood and paint, not that I minded. Everything looked nice and I felt a bit off. I wasn't really worth the effort. I stopped the thought and gave a small sigh. I was worth the effort. I didn't truly believe the thought but I had to be gentle with myself.
"I like it." I honestly did like the house, a lot.
"Are they going to build you new furniture?" Mabel's voice was soft and almost shy and I looked at the female. She was trailing her fingertips across the top of the table I had been given. She was a very shy female but I did enjoy her quiet company whenever I spent time with her.
"Yes." Jay and Collin had been adamant they were going to build all the furniture for the house but I was honestly happy with the furniture I had been given. "They don't really need to though. I like what I have currently." I did and getting more seemed a bit too much.
"Oh you won't win that argument." Mari gave a heavy and almost exasperated sigh, her hands on her hips. "They like to spoil us. I was content with the second hand stuff too but I was told I was getting everything handmade. And low and behold, I did, despite my protests I might add." She looked just as disgruntled as I felt and I gave a small smile, trying to swallow the giggles that wanted to come up.
I liked Mari too.
In fact I really liked everyone in Oblitus. They were so nice to me, always making sure I was okay and that I had help with anything I could need help with, even a few things I felt I didn't. They did their best to ensure that I felt welcome and included in the two months I had been with them. It did highlight the issues Sublatus had even further. It was a sick pack, something was sincerely wrong with it and I was glad Maeve was away from it. I didn't want her growing up in a pack like that, who treated her like that. I just hoped Brochan didn't want to take her back there. I knew I had no say in that but I still hoped.
"How are the others?" I looked between Mari and Mabel and Mari gave me a small smile.
"Penny and Harvey are ready to move onto the next stage of their treatment, pack placement, and will be leaving. Some space has opened up at a Border House and Juniper has decided to go there." She gave an almost bittersweet smile at that. I had to agree, there had been some other doctors that arrived to assess the former Omegas that had been living at the pack and now it seemed that some were leaving. I didn't know them much but they had all been very kind when I was in the house. So knowing I would no longer see them was a bit bittersweet. "George is thinking about staying. He's actually open to start working a bit at the wood shop. I know Jay is excited about teaching someone else. It's not often shifters stay." Mari looked over at Mabel with a soft smile. "But we love it when they do, isn't that right, Mabel?"
At the question the other female gave a small smile and nodded, her cheeks a bit flushed. "I couldn't imagine a life outside of Oblitus. It became my home." She said it softly, oh so softly as she reached up and touched the white trim around the half door out to the reading nook. "I like everyone here, so much." She turned and her smile was bright and genuine as she looked between Mari and me. "Where is Miss Maeve?" At the question I gave a soft smile.
