One last step

Jake's POV

I was completely lost in thoughts that I didn't even notice EJ leaning against the doorframe to my room. He was grinning like an idiot making me want to punch that smile out of his face.

"Getting cold feet, Jakey?"

"Don't call me that."

"What? No insult? Nothing?" EJ pretended to do a shocked face.

"I wouldn't be so full of yourself after all the things you've done." I commented.

"And what should that be?"

I scoffed. He can't be serious right now.

"First of all, you tried to kill y/n. Several times. You betrayed us, you broke a promise, the list is quite long." I stopped for a second before saying the next sentence, lowering my voice.

"You killed our maid."

"You killed one of our werewolves so don't play so innocent."
I had enough of this nonsense. After all these years he still believed it was us. I grabbed him by the collar and pushed him against the wall.

"It.wasn't.us!"

"Just admit it. It's just the two of us anyways." He whispered with a provoking undertone.

"I would love to but instead I'm gonna tell you the truth. It was Celeste. She killed that werewolf of yours. Believe it or not but it's true." He pushed me away and I had to let go of his collar.

"Lies."
I sighed. I knew he wouldn't believe me but I didn't even care anymore.

"As I said. Believe me or not. It's up to you. But if I was you, which I'm really glad I'm not, I would think twice about working with Celeste. Do you really know her?"

"And who are you to say that. You're here right now just like the rest of us." He tried to sound confident but I succeeded in making him doubt this whole thing he's doing. And I was proud of it.

"I have my reasons."

He didn't say another word. Just as he wanted to turn around and leave I grabbed him by the wrist.

"It was a misunderstanding, EJ. We didn't break the promise we made. We haven't killed anyone. But I won't forgive you for what you've done that day. Stay away from me and don't cause any more trouble."

He frowned at my words and left without answering.

Y/n's POV

"I was there for you."

"You only had eyes for him."

Hey mini me. Stop giving yourself the fault for what happened.

I flinched as I heard her voice, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"But it is my fault. Isn't it."

"It's not your fault, y/n." Jungwon gave me his doe eyes, looking sorry for me.
