Though many think of Lucas as no more than an ordinary boy who wandered, buried beneath his mind was nothing but fury and sorrow. No matter how hard he tried to move on, he could never escape the grief.
Memories of that time come to Lucas in flashes before they were inevitably lost for a moment, replaced by searing echoes of the knuckles raining down on street criminals with their rough luck.
So long as blood dripped from gnashing fists, he would feel nothing but a smear of red on his conscience, the hunger to feel alive again in his gut overwhelming any concern for his random victims.
But the stamina and dueling prowess were only fueled by the anger and grief of the loss of his father after he learned that the man did not take his own life, but rather, killed by staging a crime scene.
Every day on the streets was a battle for survival.
He struggled, constantly fighting with gangs of older urchins and anyone else who threatened his life.
Though his body and mind were broken after months of neglecting what they needed, Lucas stubbornly resisted and kept walking aimlessly with wounds and bruises.
He coughed up pain that sizzled inside his chest, before feeling the burning sensation in his lungs.
In the coldness of the night, he would writhe in agony for hours on end. With the untimely death was the only thing on his mind, Lucas gave up.
By the time his heart started beating once again, he woke up to a rather comfortable bed and whiteness surrounded him. He wasn't sure where he was until a man with amazing scarlet-colored hair walked inside the room.
Where did the spark of the boy who once danced in the battle for fun go?
Felix wasn't sure.
The lifeless and dullness in his eyes. It was nothing but emptiness. He could barely recognize how the boy whom Athanasia had him rescue.
After introducing himself as Felix Robane, he asked whether Lucas remembered him. Lucas impolitely ignored the man and covered his face with the white sheet.
Thought of another approach, Felix mentioned that he was his adoptive father's friend. This got his attention and he shot right up from the bed to a seated position.
The pain soon overwhelmed all other thoughts and the older man pushed him back to rest and told him he would come back in a few days.
Before Felix left, he proposed a request to the boy, asking if he would want to become a bodyguard for he was recognized for his combat skill.
With no purpose in life, Lucas halfhearted accepted. He still wondered if he'd truly wanted this. He couldn't remember the details, but he would soon be discharged and his destiny would await him.

The day Lucas became part of the recruit, he was accompanied by none other than Felix Robane himself.
Lucas wasn't much to look at, in the other eyes. But they wonder why the Knight of Crimson Blood took his time to show the boy around the campus.
Lucas was old enough, but that dark hair that was growing lengthy and fell around his shoulders, and was flecked by the breeze made him look even younger than his actual age.
Felix had already reminded him to go for an undercut. The boy may look sharper with the fresh cut, the bodyguard of the President insisted.
Other recruits continued to observe him. Then they decided to introduce themselves in a way that would threaten their lives.
