Chapter 30: My Arrival

"What with that frown?"

She stared wordlessly at the person who happened to smile in front of her. The gap she invariably once dreaded could not cross her subconscious as their noses kissed when she substituted her head, taking a more favorable glimpse of his eyes.  The longer she stared, the harder it became for her to hold back the tears that were threatening to befall.  

She lost her dignity the moment she ran straight into his arms. "Do you know how long I have been waiting?" She implanted her face to his chest, encircling her petty arms around his waist dearly.

"Time flies if you are not thinking of someone." She heard him chuckle. "Were you thinking of me all these times?"

"No... Not at all..."

"I don't expect you to be honest with yourself so I am fine with that," She said nothing but crushing him further with affection to the point where a vivid grunt left his throat. "I know you are happy to see me after so long but aren't you a bit too close?"

She ignored his question and shook her head. Disappointment slowly crept in when he did not attempt to return the embrace. Before she could let it engulf her whole, she felt the fabric of his shirt brush against her skin as he encircled his arms around her. 

Her head got heavier but it didn't take long for her to understand what he was doing. "Lucas... You are heavy..." She complained. 

Obviously, he was sinking all his weight on her head. She pulled away but only to have him follow her, lowering himself further as he leaned his chin on her shoulder. Her blue jewel eyes were desperately searching for the red ruby ones but all she could see was his silky midnight locks, brushing against her cheek from time to time. 

"Let me stay like this... just a little bit longer..." He whispered and she could feel his jaw moving. His hot breath tickled her bare skin, sending a shiver down her spine and his hands never once left her body when he drove his face to the crook of her neck, nestling and resting warmly. 

She placed her hand on his back, gently rotating in a circle. Her free hand climbed deliberately to his head as her fingers ran through his hair, guiding him closer to her neck. "We called every day you know..." Don't act as if you Miss me that much. 

"Your voice was enough to keep me sane for the whole week."

"There is nothing out of ordinary about my voice."

"You may be a bit loud, but the real one is better than the one on the line."

"Was that a compliment or an insult?"

"How do you see it as an insult when there is no flaw in your voice? That's what makes it so special and I will never be getting tired of hearing it."

"...Shut up. You talk too much."

He laughed vividly. "But do you know that you are close to being perfect?"

"Close?"

"Yes. Because I am perfect and you are close to me right now." 

He laughed vividly and she was about to shove him away when the next sentence struck her emotion. "I missed you." And she was at a loss for words. "What about you? Don't you miss me? After all this time that we had parted?" Loud and clear, Lucas had asked those questions, but did she have to respond to that even though something that was pounding inside her chest had already done its part? 

"Princess? Are you still with me? Physically you are, but you can't just ignore me like that. I tried to come here as fast as I could. I didn't miss it like las—"

"You are here. That is all it matters." She cut him off.

"I told you I would make it and no matter where I go, I will find my way to you. Whether in this life or our next ones. Always." Her eyes widen as soon as she heard what he said just now. Biting her lips, she let his presence guide her out of the torturous illusion. But what dreaded her, even more, was when he was slowly pulling away, making her cling on to him even more.
