Anika watched as Leon pushed away the woman after a beat. It was probably a good thing little Adelaide was getting sleepy, as she didn't see the inappropriate action just now. When she raised her head, the two had already separated.
"What the hell are you doing?" Leon asked in a pressed and quiet voice, but it held danger in them as he pushed the woman away.
"Why? I haven't seen you since forever!" The woman still played dumb and said coquettishly.
"Ms. Smith, I believe we are not that familiar nor have a kind of relationship to greet that way," He added coldly as he took his handkerchief to wipe his lips stained with nasty lip products as well as his hands as if he just touched something distasteful.
"You're still so stiff as-" The woman spoke, but she was immediately cut off.
"Bruce," Leon's strict voice called his assistance. His eyes held frost in them, glanced once at the woman, and turned away, not giving her any more attention.
Bruce heard his boss' call and immediately knew what he meant. He quickly went to stop the woman and obstruct her way as Leon took Anika and Adelaide away.
"Hey!" Sharon Smith angrily tried to get away from Lon's assistant, but more men in black went to her.
This was utterly humiliating. She was already fuming as she watched Leon leaving with a woman and a child.
Who are they?!
..........................................
"Let's go. Don't mind that woman. She's crazy," Leon told Anika as he led them out of the mall. His voice still held coldness in them, and he was obviously irritated.
Anika continued to follow quietly, still in a bit of a daze. She didn't know why, but when she saw them kiss earlier, there was an uncomfortable feeling in her heart.
Leon does that thing to herself too, but why, when she sees him doing this to others, it feels weird?
Leon failed to see her little dilemma as he saw their daughter yawning. He picked her up and strode outside to a bit crowded exit of the mall to place her in their car first.
Yet, after turning back to Anika, it was when he realized she was no longer behind him.
Fuck.
....................................................
"Ouch! Watch where you're going!"
A bump was felt on Anika's shoulder, and she woke up in her daze. She looked dumbly at the person she bumped into.
Seeing Anika staring in a daze, the person cursed lowly as she left.
"Idiot,"
Anika blinked, and it was only then that everything registered to her. She didn't know when and how, but she walked in a completely different way, and she didn't know where she was.
And Leon and Adelaide were nowhere to be found.
Uh oh, was she lost?
Thinking of her last memory, it was Leon carrying Adelaide to leave. Thankfully, Adelaide was with him and not her. If not, they would be both lost right now.
She sighed as she looked around. Slowly, anxiety filled her heart. Seeing the swarm of unfamiliar people and big buildings around her, she was like a small ant lost in the vastness of the world.
Stories of how the world was a scary place came back to her. She just realized, being alone with not knowing anyone or what to do, is the scary reality.
