Leaving Leon's study, Esther went straight to the receiving hall. There she already saw Anika.
"Esther!" Anika happily waved at her.
Esther tried to fix her expression and smiled back.
Anika pulled her to sit and chat.
"Nanny made some delicious pastries. Try them!" She offered.
Esther took one nonchalantly and ate some. Her mind was still on the conversation she just had earlier.
Finally, she can't help but turn to Anika.
"Did you... say anything to your husband? About you giving me stuff," She asked hesitantly.
Anika heard this and nodded innocently.
"Yes, I did,"
Esther almost rolled her eyes at this. She sighed and tried to calm her voice.
"He got angry, right?" She then asked.
This made Anika think for a while, glancing uneasily at Esther, but still nodded again.
Esther made her expression pitiful and smiled sadly.
"Well, he would really be angry. I am just a nobody for you to give things to," Esther said in a melancholic voice.
Anika hurriedly took her hand.
"No, you're not a nobody! I already explained to Leon, he said we can still be friends, just that I should control what I give. We are still friends," Anika comforted and smiled warmly at her.
Esther's mouth twitched. What is this woman still smiling for? What's the good in that?!
She took a breath and tried to smile back too.
"Well, you can just... not tell him." Esther tempted and suggested.
Anika frowned at this.
"No, I can't lie to Leon," She answered solemnly.
Esther was taken aback a bit. This dumb woman was surprisingly witty this time.
Seeing the latter's frown, Esther could only grit her teeth and give in.
"Okay. We'll just give gifts on special occasions," She said, smiling magnanimously.
Anika finally smiled and nodded brightly. She knew Esther would understand.

Days later, Esther came to the Albrecht mansion. This time, she had something with her.
"For you!" She happily handed Anika a paper bag.
"For me?" Anika said unbelievingly, looking at the paper bag in a daze.
Esther chuckled at her. "Open it!"
Anika woke up from her daze and opened it. Inside, there was a cute small bag, it was very pretty.
"Wow! It's beautiful! Thank you, Esther!" Anika was very happy. She doesn't know about brands, so she wasn't particular about that. All she knows is that this was the first gift she received from a friend.
She hugged it close to her chest warmly. Suddenly, her eyes brightened, and carefully placed it down.
"I need to give you something too! Wait for a moment," She said excitingly as she ran upstairs. It was like she saw in movies, friends exchanging gifts, which is very beautiful.
Anika thought blissfully.
While Esther, who was left in the living hall, smiled in satisfaction.
When Anika returned, she already had with her an expensive and luxurious bag.
