Leon immediately took action. He made sure no soul would tell what happened that day at the abandoned building. With power and money, he can easily do this. He also had connections with the authorities, and it was not hard to suppress this matter from spreading out.
He then cleaned up the parasites in his company and kicked them out without second thoughts.
They were not only one of them, and he knew it. So, this time, he didn't take risks and immediately tore down their faces.
Then, he also used underhanded means to buy and spill the dirty waters of those who dared to prey on his family.
Do they think only they could use underhanded means? He was also willing to dirty his hands just to protect his beloveds.
Coercion, blackmail, and soiling their reputation, Leon did all that just to make them pay.
And seeing this, anyone in the business circle feared and wouldn't dare to plot against the Albrecht family.
........................................................................................
After all that happened, it left a shadow on Anika.
She started to fear going out and didn't even dare to let Adelaide go to school. She was terribly shaken by the matter.
And Leon felt distressed about this. It was his fault, as he wasn't able to protect them properly.
But he didn't want them to go back to how they were again, cooped up and hiding from the world.
"Baby, I'm sorry," Leon can't help but feel that he failed her.
Anika looked at him and hurriedly shook her head.
"It's not your fault," She whispered softly.
It's just that she's become afraid. She was clueless and stupid, it was only now that she felt small as someone ignorant of the world.
Anyone could fool her and hurt her. Her baby, too, Anika was afraid she would experience what she went through, and even what the child experienced, she fears it would happen again.
"Then could you trust me? That I'll do everything it takes not to let that happen again, and I will protect you both with my life," Leon coaxed.
Anika hurriedly took his hand.
"I don't want anything to happen to you either," She insisted.
Leon smiled sadly.
"But I don't want you to go back to your life in the past. Hiding in fear. I want you to have a normal life," Leon caressed her hair as he explained.
"Do you want that life again?" He then asked.
Anika was stumped for words. She remembered the cold walls of the four-corner room. This time, the place was bigger, but she realized everything was the same.
It was like the tower all over again.
Would she like her daughter to live that way? These days, because the child didn't understand and she was asleep when that happened, she didn't know anything about the matter. And she was sad that she could not go to school all of a sudden in these couple of days.
Anika reflected on this and sighed.
She then looked at Leon's face.
Her anchor and strength.
Should she just always be a coward and hide from everything?
But when she looked into Leon's eyes, as if everything was alright and as if telling her that she could face anything, her heart became determined.
