Chapter 53 - Take her away

"What are you doing to my niece!!"

Amanda screeched emotionally as she hurriedly supported her niece with a bloody arm.

The people with her also saw the scene and were stupefied.

"Are you crazy?!" She turned accusingly at Anika.

Anika only stood there dumbfounded, staring at the bloody knife in her hand. She was still processing Esther's words, and now this.

Her face paled as she looked at the people in the room, her lips trembling. It was Leon, Nanny Rose, Steward Ben, the assistants, all of them watched her holding a knife.

A dark shadow shrouded her, as if she felt like the witch in the picture book, being ostracized for being evil.

"It's not Anika's fault, she doesn't know what she's doing.." Esther said weakly, still pleading for Anika. She held her bloody arm looking at the people in the room as if to ask justice for Anika.

Like a reasonable person asking lenience for a mentally handicapped woman.

Anika looked at Esther in askance. She could only stare at the girl as she lied in front of them.

She insulted and hated her earlier, but now she is pleading for her.

But why do her pleas sound wrong? It still points to her stabbing her with a knife, but in truth, she didn't.

Anika was left staring at her frozen, her bloody hand weakly holding the knife.

She still didn't know how all of these happened. But looking at Esther's weak face, a great contrast to the vile expression she had just minutes ago, no matter how innocent Anika was, she understood this much.

Esther was a bad person. And she never treated Anika as her friend.

This realization hit Anika hard that she blanked out.

"You still defend her?! How kind can you be?!" Amanda said in distress.

"It must be an accident! Anika, dear, what happened?!" Nanny Rose hurriedly exclaimed.

Even though Nanny Rose knew Anika couldn't be trusted with serious things and responsibilities because she didn't know anything, which greatly distressed her. However, she also knew that Anika could not ever hurt anyone.

But Anika only stood in her place, looking soullessly at the knife in her hand.

Esther's brows furrowed, but she was still able to control her expression. She didn't expect this old woman to turn her back on her after all she had done.

She gave a knowing look to her aunt. It's a good thing her aunt is here.

Amanda saw the situation and immediately countered.

"What do you mean accident? We all saw it, that woman stabbed Esther!" Amanda angrily pointed to Anika.

Yes. Amanda was also part of this plan.

When Amanda knew Esther's desire to covet the powerful man from the Albrecht, even though she had some fears in her heart, the prestige and opulence that would follow blinded her.

"Mr. Albrecht, you need to give us an explanation!" Amanda added indignantly.

"I heard what happened. This woman might have gone crazy as she was blamed for the fire earlier! Am I right?! That's why you want to hurt my niece to retaliate?!"

Esther tried to stop her aunt, her expression still in pain.

"No, Anika might have only been confused. Anika, I am not your enemy.." Esther said pitifully.

Anika raised her eyes to look at Esther. She studied the friend she trusted most. She remembered how she contradicted Leon, and did not adhere to any of his warnings, all because she wanted to trust this woman.

But it turned out to be true. She was not good. Now she could only look at the people around her helplessly. To Leon, Nanny Rose, and Steward Ben, would they believe a stupid girl like her if she says she didn't do it?

Her heart ached, and her mouth opened, but no words could come out.

She didn't do it. She's not evil. She wouldn't hurt anyone.

'Please, believe me.'

This time, a group of security entered the room. This was also Amanda's doing. She had called for the securities beforehand.

When she saw them coming in, she hurriedly pointed to Anika.

"Help us! That woman is trying to kill my niece!"

Her heavy accusation sounded. This made the securities immediately become alert. They held up their hand and warned Anika.

"Ma'am, drop the knife. This is a serious offense," One of the securities threatened in a solemn voice.

Anika was struck with fear, and she immediately let go of the knife. The knife made a harsh sound as it dropped to the floor. It eerily echoed in the whole ward.

Anika backed away in fear, shaking her head.

"I didn't.." She whispered in a voice only she could hear, as she felt her throat twist.

She hurriedly looked for Leon in the crowd of people, her eyes finding for refuge.

"Hubby.." She cried weakly.

Leon, who was watching all of this with a cold face, was immediately triggered by the offensive charge of the securities to his wife.

When he saw Anika look at him with soulless eyes, his figure headed forward.

Esther saw Leon stepping in a foul mood, and she felt her plan succeeded. She secretly hid her smile and made her expression even more pitiful.

"Mr. Albrecht.." She whispered softly.

However, Leon directly bypassed her and went to Anika.

His arms immediately wrapped her protectively, and his cold voice ordered.

"Take that woman away,"

In a flash, men in black burst into the room and grabbed Esther and her aunt, their exclamation ringing in the room.
