In the following days, Esther continued to come to the Albrecht mansion. She would cook meals, bring flowers and show her bookish attitude.
During meals with Leon, she would deliberately bring up books that Leon reads, which she found out on the internet. She searched hard for Leon's likes and hobbies.
Although Leon doesn't talk much every time, she brings up a common topic, but seeing him acknowledge what she knows is a plus for her.
"Oh, we have the same tastes in books, Mr. Albrecht," Esther said in a gentle voice.
She then looked kindly at Anika. And as of comfort, she smiled softly at her.
"Anika doesn't know anything about this, but it's fine. You'll find your likes someday," She said to her magnanimously.
Anika only smiled, but the hand below the table softly pinched her skirt. Eventually, her grin turned to an embarrassed smile.
Seeing the other's insecurity, Esther smiled more gently. It looks like her plan is going in the right direction.
Even someone as stupid as Anika could see for herself that she was better than her. What more to people with wide visions?
She chuckled in her heart.
But Esther didn't stop there, to show she was a virtuous one, she also took it into her the sewing and massaging.
"Oh, Sir, I made a mistake with the laundry. Luckily, Esther here is helping me sew the clothes. Especially your favorite shirt," Nanny Rose eagerly told Leon while she and Esther were sewing.
"Yes, Esther knows a lot of things. She's so talented," Anika also praised as she sat beside them, and could only watch as they busied their selves a bit enviously.
Esther looked up, her countenance extremely gentle. She also changed her style, as nowadays, she mostly wears delicate and light-colored dresses, looking very gentle and kind.
She turned to Anika and chuckled softly as she shook her head as if it was nothing for her.
"Oh, it's just some chores that I know. Taking care of the people and things in the house," She said modestly.
She then looked and smiled softly at Leon and raised the shirt.
"I tried my best. Is it acceptable? Good as new?" She showed the exquisite shirt that did not have any trace of being torn.
Leon looked at all these, a bit indifferent.
"Nanny, you can just give those away," He said nonchalantly, approaching Anika while loosening the buttons of his collar. He bent down to drop a kiss on her head as a greeting.
"Oh, but this was your favorite. Are you sure?" Nanny Rose can't help but ask.
Leon glanced at the shirt that Esther held. It was indeed his favorite, as it was the first shirt, he had put on Anika on their first night.
However, looking at it now, it seemed the essence was already gone.
"It's fine, Nanny. You can take it away." He said dismissingly as he made his way up the second floor to their bedroom to change.
Esther, who was still holding the shirt, suddenly stagnated. She looked back at Nanny Rose helplessly.
"Oh, men. They would change their favorites after a while." Nanny said exasperatedly. It was normal for the Sir to throw away soiled clothes. He can even live without wearing the same clothes twice. But Nanny specifically knew this shirt was a favorite. Well, that was before.
Esther could only smile, but her eyes had already darkened in annoyance.
But she didn't give up.
After a few days, it was another scheme.
"My parents sent these essential oils from our town. This is great for fatigue. Do you want me to massage you, Nanny?" Esther offered first to the elderly to brush her presence and, in turn, endorse her in front of Leon again. Also, to not be that suspicious again.
"Really, Dear?" Nanny Rose asked, suddenly feeling the fatigue in her body with just a mention of massage.
Esther smiled and directly went behind her chair and used the essential oil on her shoulder. With skillful hands, she massaged Nanny Rose's shoulders.
"Oh, that's very relieving," Nanny Rose praised with relish.
Esther smiled secretly and continued to massage Nanny Rose's shoulders. After a while, the elderly finally was satisfied.
Esther turned to Steward Ben and offered the bottle.
"Would Steward Ben want a massage too?" Esther asked kindly.
But Steward Ben declined politely.
"I'm good, Miss,"
Seeing the old man uninterested, Esther did not push any further. Anyway, her hands are not for free too. If not for her plan, she wouldn't stoop so low as to serve these servants.
Not long, Leon came home.
"Sir! Esther here also knows how to massage, and this girl's hands are skillful," Nanny Rose still had an at-ease expression and said to Leon casually.
Esther smiled kindly at Leon and showed him the bottle.
"Mr. Albrecht might be very tired. Care for some massage?" She asked tentatively.
She braced herself to have some confidence in asking this. She had brushed her presence in front of him for so many days, surely, he would have some good opinion of her and give her some face, right?
But the seemingly ascetic man proved her wrong.
"I'm fine. Miss Esther shouldn't bother," He responded without second thoughts.
"My wife?" He then turned to Nanny Rose in question.
"Oh, she's on the balcony." Nanny Rose responded. Not minding the Master's refusal, she also stood up to head to the kitchen. It was almost time to prepare dinner.
With that, Esther was left alone in the living hall.
She turned to look out the balcony and saw Leon bent down low to hug Anika, who was leisurely sitting in the lounge.
The two paid no mind to the outside world while showing their love as if trapped in their own bubble.
A bubble that Esther couldn't enter.
The hands on her sides fisted tightly, her eyes dripping with acid as she stared at the two love birds.
It seemed she needed to change plans.
She underestimated Leon's self-restraint and his fondness for Anika. She can't believe someone would be as blind as this man to love a brainless woman.
Really now, does beauty truly weigh over anything else?
She felt bitterness fill her heart.
It seemed that Esther started at the wrong pace.
So, if she cannot make Leon like her first..
Then she would make him hate Anika.
