Leon led Anika and their daughter inside the room where the meeting would be held. They sat on their designated seats.
Teacher Daisy approached them to take Adelaide away to be with her classmates. The kids are taken by the teacher so that the meeting can be quiet and focused.
They let Adelaide come with the teacher. The innocent girl seeing her mother smile, as usual, let go of her nervous heart. She felt everything was okay, so she followed Teacher Daisy obediently.
"Were you scared?" Leon asked her softly. His face was still gentle, giving Anika a warm feeling.
Only he knew how tight his chest was right now. When he heard that cruel woman's voice and saw his wife standing there quietly, he wanted to lash out.
He wanted to be mad, but he knew he could only be mad at himself. He didn't protect her enough.
But his little wife was even calmer than he was. Standing there cleverly comforting their child by herself, he realized his wife was stronger than him.
Always been.
Anika heard the worry in his voice and knew he felt bad. But she was fine, so she shook her head.
Leon sighed and raised her hand to his lips, gently planting a kiss.
"Sorry, I left you alone." He said lowly, kissing her hand.
"Don't say sorry. You didn't do anything wrong." Anika said wonderingly. This was what he taught her, not to say sorry when she didn't do anything wrong.
Leon heard this, and he could only smile helplessly.
"Okay, my baby is so good," He whispered, caressing her hair.
The two people's bubble was then burst by the commencement of the meeting. They sat properly and listened carefully to the teacher in the front.
The meeting started with talking about the daily affairs of the children, some safety measures they take, and reminders for parents on how to keep their children safe.
They then proceeded to the activities of the nursery. There will be a performance next week, so the meeting was originally for this. They want to orient the parents about the performance for additional support and encouragement to the children since the pupils were still young and were hard to coax.
They also specifically reminded the parents to come for the performance. This was an important psychological matter for children at this age, to know their parents are there to support them. Their attendance and presence matter greatly to them, so parents should try their best to come.
The meeting ended with the parents taking home some papers and reminders for the schedule and agenda of the meeting.
Anika and Leon then picked their daughter up. They waited for her to say goodbye to her friends before holding her hands.
"Let's eat out for dinner?" Leon asked his girls.
"Want! Want!" Adelaide cheered as she skipped on her steps.
Leon chuckled and looked at Anika. Anika nodded happily too.
When Adelaide saw something across the street, she happily pointed.
"It there! Look! A big bee!" Adelaide happily pointed at the fast-food chain across the street. A big standee of a smiling bee was placed outside, enticing kids to come in and take a meal.
Leon looked over and saw it was fast food.
"Sweetie, that's not healthy," He discouraged.
Adelaide heard this and pouted. She looked at the kids happily taking a picture and eating there with toys. She also wants to..
Leon looked helplessly at his daughter's longing look. He sighed and carried her in his arms.
"Fine. I guess we can have some once in a while," Leon finally said, completely defeated by his daughter.
"Really?!" Adelaide happily asked.
Leon chuckled and nodded.
"Yay!" The little child cheered.
Leon didn't forget to look at his wife too. Anika also nodded happily, also wanting to try the restaurant with a big bee standee.
Leon shook his head and could only hold her hand. So, taking his family to the fast food for dinner, the three of them entered the establishment.
They first lined up for their order. It was fortunate Leon knew how to order in this kind of restaurant, as it was mostly self-service.
He carried his daughter high up for her to point and choose what she liked. Anika also pointed to hers.
Leon said their orders to the crew, and the latter immediately punched it up. Not long, their orders were grabbed and placed in a tray, ready for them to take. Leon placed his daughter down to take the tray.
"Let's go," He told them, passing by the cutleries section and taking some on the way. They sat at a medium table that was instantly filled with food. The food they got also came with toys, and Adelaide happily played with them instead of eating.
Leon could only feed her patiently.
Anika, too, was eating with relish. The fried chicken was very crispy, and the sweet spaghetti was very delicious. It was different from the cuisines served at home, but she thought they were also yummy.
So a family of three, the father wearing a three-piece suit, and the mother wearing a luxurious Chanel dress, was happily eating in a fast food restaurant.
........................................................
When they got home, Adelaide was already very sleepy from all the playing. They gave her to Nanny, and the two of them went to change and freshen up as well.
There was no need to coax the child to sleep tonight, so Anika went to sleep directly, and Leon still had some work on his study.
Anika was a little tired today, so the moment her head touched the pillow, she immediately drifted to sleep.
..........................................
Anika was woken up by the hug behind her. She turned slightly to see her husband's sleeping face. He just laid down, and she didn't know what time it was right now.
She looked at Leon's tired face and felt guilty in her heart. He had lots of work, and he still taught her to read and write every day.
The woman's voice back at the office, and the Madame's scolding back at the school rang in her mind.
It seemed she didn't have anything to help or support her husband.
That woman, Victoria, was right. At least she can help with Leon's work and company.
Insecurity filled Anika's heart. He wanted to help him too. To relieve his worries and be his sanctuary, just like how he is to her.
Anika's eyes flashed. It seemed, she could only do one thing.
When she decided, she carefully lifted his arm from her waist. She then slowly got out of bed.
Barefoot, she walked to the door, as silent as possible. She looked back and saw he was still fast asleep. She sighed in relief and went out of the room.
Anika then headed to the study. She looked at the pile of work on the desk. She doesn't understand anything about those, but all she could give was fortune.
In the dark study, the fair woman in a nightdress stood alone. Later, her eyes glowed with a golden light, and her lips whispered soft enchantments.
