"Welcome home, Anika!" Esther greeted as soon as she stepped into the mansion.
When she received Anika's message saying they were already back, she didn't bother to reply and hurriedly got ready to head here.
Steward Ben opened the door for her, and seeing the visitor, he couldn't help but furrow his brows.
The family just got back. Visiting right at this moment was a little too..
"Esther!"
Steward Ben swallowed his words and backed away when he saw Anika greeting Esther happily.
Well, if the head of the house doesn't see anything wrong, what else could he, as an employee, say?
So, Steward Ben backed down.
Anika led Esther to the living hall and sat down with her. She didn't think anything was wrong.
"Little Addie is here, too? No school?" Esther asked with pleasantries and waved to the child.
Anika beckoned to Adelaide to come closer.
"Say hello," She coaxed the child.
"Hello!" Adelaide greeted with her childish voice.
Anika smiled and turned to Esther.
"No. we took a break to rest from the trip," She responded to Esther's question.
Hearing this, it only dawned upon Esther that they just got back, and she might have been too hasty coming here.
She blushed a bit but remembered the thing in her hand. She hurriedly raised it and smiled.
"Ah! I know you guys were tired. I brought some pastries for you to try as a treat!" She kindly offered with a magnanimous expression.
"Wow! Thank you, Esther!" Anika happily received it. She opened it and saw the exquisite pastries.
She showed it to Adelaide.
"Look! Does it look pretty?"
Little Addie looked at the pasties, and her eyes brightened. She nodded her little head.
Anika took one and first gave it to her.
"Yummy!" Adelaide happily praises.
Anika smiled at her and looked thankfully at Esther.
Esther smiled back at her. Her eyes then floated around.
"So.. is Le- Mr. Albrecht around?" Esther couldn't keep it in and finally asked.
Anika was delightfully eating the pastry when she heard this. She wiped her lips with a napkin and responded.
"He's already at work,"
Esther almost couldn't hide her disappointment.
She looked regretfully at the pastries. She especially made that so that Leon could taste it too. Now that he's not here..
Esther took a deep breath to hide her distress.
Until Nanny Rose came to the living room.
"Oh, Miss Esther is here," Nanny greeted.
She turned to Anika and asked.
"What should I prepare for lunch, dear? Any requests?"
Anika thought for a while.
"We can have curry? Leon likes that," She responded, not forgetting to think about her husband.
Esther's ears pricked when she heard this. Leon's eating lunch here?
