"Anika! Here!" Esther waved at the arriving girl.
Anika came down from the car and saw Esther at a glance. She jogged a bit to approach her.
"Hello, Esther," She greeted softly.
Esther smiled at her and looked behind her.
"You don't have the little girl with you?" She can't help but ask.
Anika heard this and replied,
"She's in school,"
Esther nodded in understanding.
"Speaking of school, do you still go to school too?" She asked again while walking inside the park.
Anika followed her and stuttered to respond.
"I, I have never.. gone to school," She said embarrassedly.
Esther looked at her in confusion.
"But!" Anika exclaimed softly.
"I learn at home.." She tried to reason.
So don't hate her. She's learning..
Esther smiled in understanding.
"Homeschooled? Well, that's nice," She said lightly. It was not new for rich families to home-school their children, so she wasn't surprised.
Anika heard this and sighed in relief.
The two walked around the park while getting to know each other.
"You got married that early. Jeez, that's scary. How would you enjoy your youth, now that someone tied you to him so soon?" Esther can't help but ask when she heard some of Anika's life story while they were buying ice cream from the vendor selling on the sidewalk.
"Not scary.. Leon is very good to me," Anika defended in a small voice.
Esther ate her ice cream while raising a brow. Hmm, this rich 'new friend' of hers seemed too innocent. I'm afraid she's being lured by a rich businessman out there. He won't be an old creep too, would he?
When she saw Anika had received her ice cream, she led her to a bench on the side.
"Well, as long as he treats you well," Esther responded lightly.
Anika pursed her lips and tasted her ice cream too, the sweetness comforted her aggrieved heart. She realized she didn't want to hear anyone thinking badly about Leon. But this person is her new friend..
The woman was a bit conflicted.
"Well, I'm still in college right now. I'm only living with my aunt and her family. I'm actually not from here," Without noticing Anika's dilemma, Esther changed the topic.
This also caught Anika's attention.
Esther was originally from a small town, but she had big dreams, so she tried her best to move to the big city and study here. Living with her aunt was not very comfortable, but she persevered for her dream.
"That's very admirable of you," Anika praised heartfully. One thing she greatly admires about humans is their dreams.
Something they yearned or achieved.
She doesn't even know what that is, and seeing humans have it is very admirable for her.
Would she have one too someday? Anika wondered.
Esther heard Anika's praise and couldn't help but smile and shook her head.
"Well, admirable, but it is hard work," She sighed.
