Chapter 54 - Make them pay

"Take that woman away,"

Leon's men immediately grabbed Esther and Amanda, and they could only struggle in the middle of their shock.

"Mr. Albrecht, what's the meaning of this?" Esther asked incredulously. She hissed when the men grabbing her did not bother to consider her wounded arm.

"What is this?! Hey, help us! Can't you see they're attacking us?!" Amanda asked for help from the security guards in panic.

The securities were also dumbfounded and could only look at each other. They knew these people could not be messed with, and their small jobs couldn't afford to offend whoever important person this man was.

Leon turned to the securities and said coldly.

"They are defaming my wife. I'll give them into the custody of the police, and my lawyer will follow,"

Esther's heart sank when she heard this.

"What?! You can't do this! It's the woman you should catch! No!" She continued to struggle.

Amanda also clamored while panicking, but they were subdued by Leon's men.

They were then taken away for interrogation.

While Leon hugged Anika in his strong arms, his assuring voice whispered in her ear.

Leon then took Anika home. Coming out of the car, he carried Anika in his arms, who was covered safely in his coat.

He headed inside the mansion and went straight to their bedroom. He took Anika to the bedroom to wash her.

Carefully, he washed her bloody hands, making sure she didn't cut herself earlier.

Anika, who sat on the sink, leaned on Leon's shoulder, watching her hands slowly become clean.

Leon then attentively took a towel and wet it with warm water. He then softly wiped Anika's face, raising it gently to face him.

Anika looked at her husband's face in a daze.

"I'm sorry.." She then whispered after a while.

Leon raised his gaze to look at his wife's watery eyes. His heart hurt seeing them dull.

He hugged her small body and dropped a kiss on her forehead.

"Don't be sorry, baby. You didn't do it. I believe you." He comforted her in a low voice.

Anika's tears finally fell on her cold cheeks. She hugged Leon's strong waist and buried her face in his chest.

"I'm sorry I didn't believe you. You were right.." Her voice broke as she admitted.

Leon's arms tightened.

"It's over, baby. I'm here. If I knew she would go this far, I wouldn't have let you be close to her no matter how angry you get," Leon replied in a gritted voice, his eyes darkening.

He had been too lenient to people lately, and he let a parasite into their home and hurt his wife.

He would never let this happen again.

Leon cupped Anika's face and seriously told her.

"Listen to me. Those people should be the ones being sorry to you. They take advantage of the innocent. Victims like you shouldn't blame yourself,"

Anika looked into Leon's deep eyes, his words like hypnosis in her ear. She wanted so badly to believe his words. That she wasn't at fault.
