Eddie PoV
Steve and I had a plan. We were making Dustin a surprise birthday party, and we had an extensive list of things to be done before tonight. I read through them one more time.

To do
-bake cake
-pick up surprise
- decorate
- organise food
-Drinks

We had sent Robin, Vickie, Will and Mike to organise the decor and put it up. Jonathan, Nancy, El and Max to organise the surprise. Lucas was in charge of keeping Dustin distracted all day, and me and Steve were organising the food.

I looked up from the list and watched Steve try and find a cake recipe. We chose Dustin's favourite, Vanilla with chocolate icing.

Steve handed me an apron.
"Kiss the cook." I read out.
He chuckled. "Ok."

He pecked me on the lips before getting all the ingredients out. I sat on the counter, watching him and occasionally handing him whatever he needed.

Steve threw the cake in the oven and he was covered in flour. He stood in between my legs and I laughed, wiping some of the flour off of his face with my thumb.

He kissed me and I kissed him back, running my fingers through his hair. We were interrupted by Robin who cleared her throat loudly.

We looked over and the other three were standing behind her. Steve blushed and took a step back.

The four of them were holding bags of decorations. Steve ushered them outside and directed them as they set up the area.

He made me and Mike drag over a table, which was covered with a white table cloth. Vickie stacked the plates, cups and bowls, sorting out the utensils and straws.

Will tied balloons around and Robin was stringing fairy lights around the patio. Steve blew up a couple floaties and threw them into the pool.

We laid out mats for people to sit on, and set up a table for food and drink. Vickie and Robin went inside to make punch and the boys went home to get changed and wrap Dustin's presents. Steve and me sat outside on the pool chairs.

"Do you think he's gonna like it?" Steve asked nervously.

I nodded and squeezed his hand. "Yeah. Definitely."

We went back inside to finish decorating the cake and I jumped slightly when I saw more people inside.

The other group returned with Suzie, Dustin's girlfriend. Steve had paid for her to fly out for Dustin's birthday, she was a surprise.

Steve smiled and gave her a hug.
"You must be the famous Steve." Her eyes twinkled.

He nodded. "And this is Eddie."

Suzie nodded. "Nice to meet you both."

"Like wise." I grinned.

Everyone returned, dressed and with their presents. I was exhausted, Steve made us clean the entire lower level of the house.

We saw Dustin's car pull up, and both him and his mum climbed out. He opened the door and we all yelled happy birthday.

His face was covered in pure joy. He hugged Suzie and made his way over to me and Steve.
"Thank you guys for organising this."

We hugged us both and then went outside with his friends.

His mum approached us, her eyes glistening. "Really boys... thank you."

"Anything for Dustin." Steve smiled sweetly.

Claudia went outside and I wrapped my arms around Steve's waist.

"You really are a mother to these little shits."
He smiled sadly. "Yeah."

I lifted his chin up with my index finger. "What's wrong?"

He shook his head slightly. "It's nothing. It's dumb."

I sighed. "Steve. What's wrong?"

He took a deep breath. "I just wish.. that I could have real kids.. y'know?"

I chuckled. "We don't need kids. We have us, the little shits we adopted and Ellie. We're family enough."

He smiled and kissed my nose. "Thanks Eds."

"No problem-o. Let's party!" I took his hand and led him outside to our weird little family. It was so full of love and acceptance.

A/n this was mostly written yesterday I just had to add the last part.

If you're wondering how my Monday was, I had a million panic attacks (just kidding it was only one) but I'm almost finished the first of three assignments.

Later in the week you will see a drop off of my activity, blame school.

Anyway I thought this was a really sweet idea, even though once again it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to.

Goodnight
-Oli
