Eddie PoV
Dustin and I made our way to Steve's house. We were singing along to one of my mixtapes (obviously) with the Windows down.

"All I'm saying is- it wouldn't hurt giving her a wash!" Dustin yelled over the music.

I shook my head. Dustin had gotten into his head that my van needed a wash and clean out.

I pulled up on Steve's driveway, behind his car. We jumped out and Steve and Robin greeted us at the door. They held their arms behind their backs and I squinted suspiciously.

"Whatcha got?" I said casually.

Steve shrugged. "You know.. Stuff."

I peeked behind his back and groaned. He was holding a sponge in one hand and an empty bucket in the other.

"Ohh God! Please no!"

Too late, Dustin had already started the hose and had it pointed at my van. Steve ducked infront of me and started filling up the bucket with warm soapy water.

Robin started the van back up, turning the music up slightly. I sat on the grass for a bit watching them soap up and wash off my van.

I noticed that everytime the hose got close to Steve he'd duck and run away.

I formed my revenge an stood up slowly. I ran and grabbed him, holding him bridal style.

Robin realised what I was doing and shot a blast of water from the hose at us.

Water dripped down my hair and into my face. I tried to flick it out of the way and struggled heaps. Steve gently tucked the persistent peice of hair behind my ear.

I grinned and pecked his lips. "You're not mad I got you wet?" (a/n I can already smell the comments so shut up - respectfully)

Steve laughed. "No I'm furious. But good thing we're cleaning the inside of the van next."

I groaned. "Aight but I get to tell my shirt off. It's hot as hell out here."

Steve nodded and kissed my cheek before swinging his leg down and jumping out of my arms half elegantly.

I threw my shirt off and helped Dustin clean the front of the car.

Steve walked over and wrapped his hands around my waist and muzzled his face into my neck.

"Princess, I'm trying to clean."

Dustin rolled his eyes. "You look like whores wrapped up like that. Shirtless"

Steve looked at Dustin. "Language!" he scolded.

Robin walked over and leaned against the bonnet. "Yeah- he's got a point."

"Shut up Rob." Steve grumbled. He took a step away from me and took my sponge. He dipped it into the bucket and threw it at Robin who tried to duck but the sponge hit her square in the chest.

"Hey!" she yelled, picking up the sponge.

"Maybe basketball did pay off." Dustin muttered.

Robin ran at Steve who had already taken of and was half way down the street.

"Do we have water balloons somewhere?" I said, clapping my hands together.

Dustin grinned. "No but the Byers do. I'll also call Max, Lucas and Mike."

He ran off into the house and about ten minutes later a group of kids rode up the street.

Lucas and Mike were riding with a bucket between them. El was on the back of Max's bike and Will had a back pack on.

They pulled up and dumped the bikes. Will ran over to the hose and starting filling up the balloons.

Robin and Steve emerged from the end of the street, covered in water and bubbles. They ran over and I smirked.

"You guys want a water balloon fight?" I suggested.

Robin nodded eagerly and ran off to help Mike drag the bucket of already filled balloons over.

"Everyone gather round!" I called out.

We stood in a circle in the middle of the road, Robin and Steve soaked.

"Rules are simple. Three teams each get a bucket and it's war. The teams will be led by Steve, Robin and Dustin."

We separated and ran to our teams respected bucket. The teams were Dustin, Me and Lucas (the green team) Robin, Mike and Will (the red team) and Steve, Max and El (the blue team)

My team sat in the bushes near the mouth of the street, with our bucket and Lucas' binoculars.

We watched the other two teams almost destroy eachother before we made our move.

Me and Lucas took the first assault, two balloons each. We bombed the red team and Lucas managed to grab a stray balloon of theirs.

We sprinted back to our bush and hid as Robin and Steve ran past us trying to hit eachother.

Lucas and Dustin ran off for another assault and I sat in the bush, guarding our stash.

I spun around when I heard a twig snap. Steve crouched and quietly worked towards me.

"What are you doing?" I whispered at him.

He smirked. "Hiding from Robin. I knew you assholes were in here."

I feigned a face of shock. "Assholes??"

He nodded. "Yup. Now shut up I think that's her."

We sat in silence as Robin ran past with Lucas on her trail.

Steve scooted over and sat in my lap. I raised my eyebrow.

"You good there?"

He nodded and kissed my cheek softly. "I missed you."

I grinned. "It's been ten minutes."

He nodded and swiftly stood up, taking my bucket of balloons with him. He ducked out of the bush and ran.

I stood up and chased after him, dodging Will and Max.

Dustin saw Steve had the bucket an groaned. "Really Eddie!?"

He joined the chase. Max, seeing her team captain needed to get away joined the chase.

Will and Mike followed her, seeing the opportunity to steal more balloons. It was a man hunt.

Steve ran, followed by everyone in our party. There was some in fighting as Lucas hit El in the leg and Max retaliated.

Steve jumped the fence, followed by his teammates. They dumped the balloons in the pool and jumped in after them. El started throwing balloons which most of us were hit with.

I dove after Steve and grabbed him around the waist. "You are such an asshole."

He smiled against my neck. "I'm your asshole."

My van was forgotten about as everyone else jumped in and started splashing and screaming and having a great day.

We nicknamed that day the war of '97

A/n I couldn't find a good stopping point so it was basically all rumblings and jsnsksnl. This was supposed to have been published this morning but I got distracted.
