Swimming Carnival

A/n pre steddie

Steve's PoV
Me and Robin walked over to the phone booth so she could call her mum. While I waited for her, I checked out the notice board and noticed a bright blue flyer. I stood closer to read it.

School Swimming Carnival, 23rd August.

I snatched it off the board and stuffed it into my bag as Robin hung up.

"Anything good on?" She asked me as we walked down the hall to class.

"The swimming carnival is soon. That's pretty much it." I answered.

We stopped at Robin's locker.

"That's so dumb, like only some of the jocks even enjoy it."

"Hey! I enjoy it! And I know you do too."

She rolled her eyes and slammed the locker shut. "I only like it cause it's a day off school, hanging around the pool."

"And because there are chicks in bikinis everywhere." Eddie added as he fell into step beside us.

Robin pulled a face of disgust. "Y'know, it's really disgusting for you to objectify women's bodies-"

"I'm gay- chill out. Also I'm not wrong. I saw the way you looked at Chrissy last year." Eddie shot back.

I grinned and hi fived him.

"Oh please- you enjoy watching the swim team boys-" Robin was cut off by Eddie who stood on her shoelaces. She stumbled and then stopped to retie her shoelaces.

Me and Eddie continued walking, although I was confused. Sure, I know Eddie's gay, but what was Robin saying about the swim team?

"So- are you excited?" Eddie asked me.

"Yeah! I mean the swimmings good but then we also miss a full day of lessons! And it's the kids first one too."

"Yep. I'll be bringing snacks, and we have to mak sure we get that shady tree too. Otherwise it'll be max complaining about the Sun the whole time."

Two weeks later, I was packed for the day. I'd even filled a small esky up with ice and drinks.

I shoved my bag and esky in the boot and drove to Robin's. We slowly made our way around, picking up some of the kids and driving to the pool.

We walked in and spotted the others under the massive shady tree. We ran over and threw our stuff down on some mats and started putting sunscreen and coloured zinc.

Throughout the day we raced, ate, relaxed and swam. I ended up with a few gold and one silver, Dustin got age champion for his grade. At the end of the day, we all went back to my house, where we watched movies all afternoon and ordered pizza for dinner.

Hola, it is my update day!

..but I don't have many chapters ready for you all. It's also my second busiest week of the term so I don't have that much time for things, but I'll try. On the bright side its my birthday on Friday! heh, see how I snuck that in there? Also before I forget, this book is nearly at 3K!!
