After Kuvira started harvesting spirit vines from the swamp, vines around the world have gone haywire. Korra managed to save everyone after the vines in Republic City abducted a tour group, but all is not well. Varrick and Bolin returned to warn everyone about Kuvira's spirit vine super weapon, spurring world leaders to mount a defense against the Earth Empire. Meanwhile, Bolin, Opal, Lin, and Lemaya are on a mission to rescue Su Beifong and her family, who are being held captive by Kuvira as we speak.

Staring out of his large office window, Raiko's eyes shuffled across the horizon. "The borders are secure, and troops are guarding the rail lines into the city. So, what have you two geniuses come up with to fend off Kuvira?"

Varrick rolled his shoulders back, feeling the pressure of all the eyes turned toward him. Tenzin and Korra watched apprehensively from behind his chair while Asami stared blankly at him from his right. Mako stood firmly behind her, and Wu was staring off into space out another window, his lower lip clutched worriedly between his teeth. "A flying mecha suit," he began as Asami rolled her schematics over the desk. "Perfect for aerial defense because you can take off straight up, fly in any direction, and—"

"Great, where does the spirit ray come in?"

Asami tilted her head. "The spirit ray?"

"Yes. We know that Kuvira has a deadly weapon she is not afraid to use. Where is our similar weapon to stave her off?"

Korra caught Asami's eye with an understanding glance. She stepped forward as Raiko settled himself into his chair, his back involuntarily sinking further toward the ground. "It was Kuvira's harvesting of the vines in the swamp that caused the vines here to go crazy. There is no telling what making more spirit vine weapons would do to our world."

"Okay, then what about a spirit pick-me-up. You're supposed to be the bridge between our worlds. How about you get them to help us?"

Noticing a twitch overtake Korra's jaw, Asami quickly interrupted, "Mr. President, the Fire Nation has already agreed to help us using designs of Varrick and I's creation. Designs that do not use that technology. Regardless of what you think we need, I assure you that what I have created will be more than enough to handle Kuvira. Unless you would like to speak to General Iroh and change our plans."

Under Tenzin's stern glare, Raiko ceded and held out his hands in defeat. "No, you can take these plans down to the front lines so they can become familiar with the weaponry. I suppose there are other ways I can prepare my city for this fight," he said between his teeth.

"Like evacuating the citizens so that they won't be hurt if Kuvira attacks," Wu said absentmindedly, his eyes still focused on the window. Mako leaned back, trying to follow his line of sight, but all he could see was an emptying street and tall buildings blocking the sun.

"That's...actually a good idea," Tenzin marveled as Raiko shrugged.

"I don't see the harm. Wu, you work with the police to coordinate getting people out of the city. Asami, Varrick, if you could get a prototype out to the front lines as soon as possible." He paused, a thin smile on his lips. "And Korra, if you would consider my suggestion—"
