Three Times Jack Kelly Helped Others and One Time he Finally Accepted Help
Ship - All Newsies (Jack centric)
Era - Modern
Triggers - Crying, running away and a whole lot more crying.Jack dragged a bag as he walked up to the daunting house in front of him. Bag was quite a gracious term, really. It was one of the ones used in a bin and was almost in tatters but it was all he had for his belongings. He hadn't even realised that he'd stopped walking until a hand was placed on his back, urging him forward.
"Go on, Francis. The lady's waiting for you."
Jack just noticed then that at the doorway of the house was a lady dressed in a pink dress. Taking a deep breath, Jack made his way towards the lady.
"Hi," the lady greeted. "My name's Medda. You're Francis, right?"
"Jack. My name's Jack."
Medda smiled and nodded. "Okay, no problem."
"Why don't you come in, Jack, and you can see the room you'll be sleeping in?" Medda suggested. "We can get you a new bag for your things too."
Jack looked at his bag and nodded slightly.
"Alright, come on in."
Medda walked into the house and motioned for Jack to go in as well.
"Would you like your social worker to come in too?" Medda asked.
Jack looked back to where his social worker was standing with her usual scowl. Turning back to face Medda, he slowly shook his head.
"That's okay," she reassured him.
Medda waved at Jack's social worker and closed the door as quietly as she could do as not to startle Jack.
"The kitchen is through there." She pointed to a door painted a light blue to the right. "That's where the boys like to hang out. There's video games and board games and lots of other stuff to play with."
Jack nodded along as Medda spoke, taking in the large home.
"Do you want to come through here and I'll get you a new bag for your things? And if you want to wash any of your clothes, I can help you do that."
Medda walked through to a small room with some baskets for clothes and a washing machine and tumble dryer. Jack followed after her, his hands starting to become sore from carrying the bag for so long.
"I have some different bags here." Medda reached up to a shelf and pulled down a couple duffle bags packed down into a clear plastic bag. "Which would you like?"
Jack looked at the different colours of bags before slowly pointing at a light blue bag.
Medda took the bag out of the plastic wrapping before she passed the bag over to him.
"Do you like blue?"
"Yeah. It's my favourite colour," he admitted.
"It's my favourite colour too." There was a moment of silence before Medda asked, "We can go up to your room or we can just stay here for a while. Whatever you feel like."
