Parenting Day 1 With Jack and Davey
Ship - Javey/Javid
Era - Modern
Triggers - Injuries and mentions of death and a car crash.Jack walked through the front door to his and Davey's apartment, rubbing his hands against his legs to try and hide how much they were shaking from nerves.
Davey noticed that something wasn't right straight away.
"Is everything okay?" he asked Jack.
"I dunno. I got a call from my old social worker," Jack started. "She heard we were looking to adopt."
"In a good way or bad way?"
"Good way. She's just been given a young girl's case. She's only four but she was in a car crash that killed both her parents and she has no other family."
Davey stared at Jack in shock. "That's terrible."
"Yeah. She doesn't want the girl to be cycled through homes so she wanted to see if we'd foster her."
"Did you tell her yes?" Davey asked.
"I said that I'd talk to you first but I let her know that the answer would probably be yes."
Davey breathed a sigh of relief. "Call her now. Tell her we said yes."
Jack pulled his phone from his pocket and called his social worker back. As soon as the call was over a smile burst out of his face.
"She said we can go visit her now, if we'd like."
"Let's go. Where is she?"
"She's at the hospital," Jack said. "Broke her arm and shoulder in the crash. That's all she got injuries wise."
Davey frowned. "At least that's the only injury. We should go now before visiting hours are over."
Jack nodded in agreement and a few minutes later they were on their way to the hospital.
Davey stopped in at a toy store along the way to buy a teddy for the girl.
"What's her name?" he asked. "You never told me."
"Olivia," Jack told him. "Her name's Olivia."
Davey smiled. "That's a nice name."
"Yeah," Jack agreed.
They reached the hospital soon after where they were met by Jack's old social worker.
"Miss Maria," Jack greeted her. "It's great to see you."
"I wish it was under better circumstances," Maria pointed out. "But, yes, it is great to see you again."
Jack realised that Davey was standing beside him. "This is David. My husband."
Maria smiled politely. "It's lovely to meet you. I can't believe Jack's married. He was one of the first cases I was given. I'm surprised he found someone who'll put up with his terrible jokes."
Davey laughed. "They can be hard to tolerate sometimes."
Jack faked offence. "My jokes are hilarious, thank you both very much."
