"Where're your going?" Race asked Spot as he tried to sneak out of the school building.

Spot let out a string of curses. "Scare a guy, why don't you?"

Race rolled his eyes before he repeated his question.

"What's it to you?"

"I know Mr. Denton hates when you skip school. That's why he grounded you."

"He ain't gonna know," Spot promised. "I'm seeing someone and then I'll be back before the final bell."

"He works here, he's gonna know."

"I don't care, Racer, I got bigger things to worry about. Bye."

Spot left through one of the back doors before Race had the chance. As soon as he closed the door behind himself, he ran across the school campus to get out without being caught.

Once he was off the campus and a considerable distance from the school, he started to walk as quickly as he could to the children's hospital. He was across the Brooklyn Bridge quickly and soon after he was at the hospital.

"Hey, Aoife," he said as he walked to a bed in one of the public wards. He leaned down to hug his little sister. "How are you feeling?"

"Better. I don't feel a lot yucky anymore. A nice lady said that I'm going to live in a group home in Manhattan. That's where you live?"

"Yeah, that's where I live. Did she say where in Manhattan?"

"I can't remember but I know where I'm gonna go to school."

"Where?" Spot asked.

Aoife told him the name of the school. Spot grinned.

"You know, I go to the high school up the road."

"Really?" Aoife's face lit up. "Do you think I'll get to see you?"

"You bet. I'll try see you everyday."

Aoife grinned and bounced with joy. "Will I get to meet your friends?" she asked.

"Yeah, you will."

"Can you tell me about them all again? You tell the best stories, Sean."

Spot nodded and sat beside Aoife and let her curl up into his side.

"I'll start with Race, will I?"

Spot and Aoife fell asleep together. Spot didn't make it back to school in time for the final bell and Bryan was not happy.
