Views and Post-Strike Cuddles
Ship - Javey/Javid
Era - Cannon
Triggers - None.Jack held on tightly to Davey's hand as he pulled him into the Lodging House. Selling had gone quickly that day and they all fell back into their usual selling routine like the strike had never happened. But it had, and the infectious energy from the strike had remained.
"Do you wanna stay with me tonight?" he asked Davey, pulling Davey so they were standing with their shoulders touching.
"I've gotta bring Les home," Davey explained. "I can't."
"I'll come with you. Your mother loves me. I'll ask if you can stay over."
Davey sighed, planning to deny the offer but Les had other ideas.
"David, please let him come," Les pleaded.
"Fine," Davey grumbled. "But only for a few minutes. It's past your bedtime."
Les jumped in the air with joy and grabbed Jack's hand. All the way back to their small apartment, Davey found himself apologising to Jack for Les and his lack of ability to let Jack was unassisted.
"I'm sorry about him," Davey whispered for what must have been the fifteenth time.
"It's alright, Dave. I don't mind, he's cute."
"He is cute," Davey agreed.
"Must be a Jacobs thing."
Davey playfully rolled his eyes, slapping Jack's arm. "Shut up."
"If we weren't in public, I'd kiss you so hard."
"Well we are in public and we've got a child with us so you'll just have to wait," Davey retorted.
"Alright, I'll wait."
~~~
"Are you ready?" Jack asked.
Davey looked at him confused, they'd gotten both Esther and Mayer's approval for Davey to spend the night with Jack at the Lodging House. Davey honestly couldn't figure out what he had to be ready for.
"What do I need to be ready for?" he asked.
"Chaos," Jack grinned before he opened the door to the Lodging House.
Sure to Jack's warning, the Lodging House was nothing short of chaos when they entered.
There were multiple card games ongoing, all of them having someone screaming at Race who seemed to be playing them all at once. Specs was reading to the kiddies from a leftover paper. Buttons was trying to teach Elmer to sew, there were red spots on the fabric from when he kept stabbing his fingers with his needle.
"You weren't joking about chaos," Davey commented.
"I was not," Jack laughed. "And they're pretty calm tonight."
"Calm. This is calm."
"Yeah."
Davey exhaled loudly before he mumbled, "God help me."
