Bad Dates and Best Friends
Ship - Race and Albert (best friends)
Era - Modern
Triggers - Drugging, hospitals and needles.

Medda was used to Race disappearing. Disappearing mightn't have been the right word, going to his best friend's house without telling her and terrifying her was probably more accurate.

After a while of it, she became used to it but there was still the fear that something would go wrong and she wouldn't know.

Race glanced over his shoulder as he rifled through his makeup bag for his eyeliner. "Eyeliner or no?"

Albert thought for a moment before shaking his head. "No," he decided. "The outfit isn't an eyeliner outfit."

"Good point." Race put the eyeliner away and pulled out his blush.

"Lots of blush," Albert told him, budging Race so he could sit on the edge of the seat. "It's a blush-y outfit."

"Your dads know to cover if Momma asks if I'm here?"

"Yeah. I told them to say we're going out for lunch."

"Cool."

Race finished his makeup by applying lip gloss and unclipping his hair from where it had been kept out of his face. He ruffled his hair to get its poof back before turning to Albert.

"How do I look?"

Albert looked Race up and down. "Beautiful, darling," he joked, putting on a posh accent. "Honestly, you look great."

"But does it say 'I want a serious relationship' or 'I'm just looking for a one-time-thing'?"

"I think the first one. Maybe undo the top button, though," Albert suggested. "You look like you're a toddler going to church."

Race undid his top buttons and held his arms out. "Is this better?"

"Yeah. You look gorgeous, that guy doesn't know how lucky he is to go on a date with you."

"You sound like you wanna date me yourself."

"Please, I have standards," Albert scoffed and glanced down at his phone. "We need to go so we aren't late."

"Yeah," Race agreed, pocketing his phone and wallet. He was going to meet up with Albert after the date and go back there for a sleepover. Medda would never know it happened.

They walked out of the room and down the many flights of stairs. Race never understood why Albert wanted a bedroom on the top storey. His dads' bedroom was on the first storey but Albert refused one on the second, no, he had to sleep in a tiny bedroom on the third storey.

As they left the house, they passed Albert's dads watching the television.

"Bye, Mr. and Mr. DaSilva," Race called as they left. Albert just waved over his shoulder.

Race smiled as he talked with his date. They'd gone to a diner he'd never been to before and it was nice, they were waiting for dessert to come and having a great conversation.
