If love was a person who would it be? What would it be? How would it react? What would it do?
If pain was a physical weapon what weapon would it be? And how many lives and people would be taken?
Love and pain seem to be two sides of a coin. Which side does yours flip to?
"James?"
James looked from the book in his hand and up at Clarice, she then smiled at him. She gently took his hand and placed it on her stomach.
"Can you feel it?" She smiled giggling
James looked at her stomach, yes he could the small kicking feeling, he smiled softly. "Yes, he is active isn't it?"
"Hmm, a strong boy just like his daddy" she said
James gently removed his hand and held back his book. He didn't say anything, he didn't want as if any word that came from his lips would be words of doubt.
"What do you plan to name him?" She asked
James looked at her, he slowly opened his mouth but paused and closed it back. Then reopen them.
"It's a surprise" he said
"Hehehe I can't wait"
James stood up, she looked up at him confused. "Where are you going?"
"To the cafe, I'll go look for a friend" a smile unconsciously curved up his face.
She looked at him suspiciously but said nothing.
"Can I come?" She asked enthusiastically
James looked at her as if to ask why but did not, "sure" he said.
Clarice was happy it was slowly going back to the old times, James cheated? he'd never do that, he loved her and was loyal to her. She felt a bit sad that she hurted him once she'd never do that again.
After changing and driving to Ling's cafe, James gently escorted her out the car. She wrapped her arms between his and held her belly as he carefully guided the way.
After escorting her towards the entrance the moment Ling saw him his face lights up, not even paying attention to his surroundings then gently ran up to James and hugged him.
"Guess what?! Guess?! I finally won third place in the competition and my book will be acknowledged on that site, non exclusively!" He cheered happily
James chuckled awkwardly, a small blush across his face, as he felt Ling's arms at his sides. Clarice looked up at James' face, his soft expression, his gently not forced smile the way his aura spoke words that aren't said.
She then looked at Ling, eyes widened. "P-Parker?"
Ling's body stiffened when he heard a familiar voice. How could he not know who it is, the person who was once his big sister and a close family member. The person whom this man belongs to released his hands and backed off quickly.
"Uh, I'm sorry" he apologized hastily
James smiled still remained, "it's okay you were excited, oh this is my wife Clarice" he introduced
Ling forced a smile across his then offered his hands out to Clarice. "Hell-"
"You look like Parker….. um I'm sorry but it's really strange"
"Clarice please, his being polite it's rude to cut in"
Ling forced an awkward smile across his face, "it's okay really" he said
"Uh, I'm really sorry. So you're James' friend?" She asked
"Ye-ah, we met a couple months ago"
"Really?" She asked, raising a brow.
"Clarice please your making him very uncomfortable" James turned to her
She nods, "it's okay I'm sorry, um what cakes do you have here?"
"Would you like some French vanilla cake? Um come sit I'll go make some smoothies as well" he smiled softly.
Ling despite being in a bad relationship but it didn't mean he wasn't happy to see her, he finally had a chance to live and breathe without them but it didn't mean he didn't miss them. They may have done some things to him but they weren't the worst. He didn't grow up neglected and his family was well put together and happy.
His dad was in his life and so was his mother. They were so happy even now he still couldn't understand where it went wrong.
James gently rested her in a chair carefully before sitting on the opposite side to her then whispered.
"Can you please be polite, he is my friend after all" James said
She was ready to say something when Ling came over smiling.
"Here enjoy"
James smiled at him, "why don't we celebrate, we can close early and go to a bookstore or a private library? Somewhere nice"
"But your wife" Ling looked at her sheepishly
James paused right Clarice she is pregnant he can't move around much, Clarice felt a relief deep inside as she doesn't want James around Ling it wasn't right.
"Then how about some other time, just the two of us?" James said
Clarice brows furrowed upset, James did not just say that in front of her! She got up with her round tummy glared at Ling then walked out James got up confused
"C-Clarice?! Excuse me for a moment"
James went to chase after her, but she simply went into the car and folded her arms. "I want to go home!" She declared
"But yo-"
"I am tired, I want to go home!" She yelled begrudgingly
James sighed and combs his hand through his hair there is no point in ever bringing her back. "Excuse me I'll go pay for the cake"
James left and Clarice felt more upset, James wouldn't dare to do that to her. She is carrying his baby, but what if he is she bit her thumbnail nervously. James loves her, he forgave her it's in the past now but what if not, she can't get a divorce he wouldn't dare divorce.
She clutches her dress tightly so she can see through the large glass window. They smiled, the laughter the natural flow, something she hasn't seen from James in a long time. He saw him put his hand in his pocket and put it out, he only does that when he is thinking naughty or he is nervous.
No it can't happen not like this, stop it.
