let down and failed

"Is he all right?" Rosita whispers.

Sakiko shrugs, biting at her thumb nail while leaning on the doorframe. They were watching as Glenn, Ryan, and Maggie were outside- the wife and brother attempting to console Glenn after what had happened to him.

"Tara?" Sakiko asks.

"Breathing," Rosita answers, "Wish I could say more but.. We're lucky to have that right now."

The girls stand in silence until Carl joins, a somber look in his eyes that showed that Rick had just broke the news to him, too.

"How.. How did it happen?" Carl asks, taking note of the Rhee family outside.

"Aiden shot at a walker. There was a grenade on it's belt," Sakiko begins, "He hit the clip and it blew. Tara got injured from that. Aiden got stuck on a forklift and Glenn, Noah, and Nicholas were gonna get him while Eugene watched Tara. Nicholas panicked and ran.."

"Eugene got Tara out, though," Rosita breathes, "He got her back to the van."

"Glenn and Noah went after Nicholas and they got stuck in a revolving door.. Glenn and Noah on one side, Nicholas on the other. Glenn was gonna break the glass but the asshole panicked again. Shoved the door and the walkers got enough room to grab Noah."

"Glenn saw it happen," Carl pieces together.

"He did," Sakiko nods, "He was still stuck in the door. All he could do was watch."

"Does this change things?"

"It has to," Rosita figures, "I mean.. That pendejo killed Noah and left his own brother and Tara for dead. He was gonna try and leave Glenn behind, too. Eugene had him distracted enough for Glenn to catch up."

Carl takes a deep breath in and out, leaning against the railing of the porch, "So.. Now what?"

"We keep our guards up," Rosita states, "We get ready for a fight."

"It doesn't have to be a fight," Carl disagrees.

"But, it might," Sakiko supports Rosita, "We need to be ready."

"Noah wouldn't want it to be a fight.. Beth wouldn't.. And-"

"Just because someone didn't want it to go that way, doesn't change what people do now that they're gone," Sakiko cuts Carl off.

"Meet me in the morning," Rosita tells them both, "We'll pick up some extra combat training. I don't like feeling all soft and shit behind these walls. We need to prepare for whatever is next."

"I spy-"

"Don't you fuckin' dare."

Nanami groans, stomping his feet a couple times just to show Daryl how bored he was.

"You're boring."

"Na," Daryl strictly calls, "Don't go all Kiko on me. You're the good one."

"Can I get that in writing?"

"Absolutely not."

"Do you know how to write?"

Daryl rolls his eyes, "Nope."

"I knew I was smarter. I'm the good one, I'm the smart one, I'm the pretty one-"

"Pretty?" Daryl chuckles, "Not even handsome? Jus' pretty?"

"Hey, if the man wants to be pretty, let him be pretty," Aaron defends.

"Rosita keeps trying to get me to pierce my ears or cut my hair. I'm kind of terrified. But, some chick named Enid said I looked like a real life anime and I don't know if that's a compliment or racism."
