bond and the broken heart

Once the panic attack had subsided, Sakiko knew she fucked up as she woke up. It must have exhausted her until she passed out. She sniffles, the fumes of the blood on her face in the tiny area now giving her a migraine from hell.

She peers out of the broken boards to see walkers still covering the place. It was still daylight, too. She had no idea how long she'd been out. had it been a day? Was everyone gone? Was Alexandria over?

She feels the panic begin to rise again, sitting up right and tugging her knees close to her. She places a hand on her chest, whispering a song that Beth used to sing to calm her nerves.

Even if everything was gone, she wasn't. Ryan had to be out there. Maggie, too. Daryl was still diverting the rest of the herd- he would be back any minute now. And she'd heard Nanami, she heard his voice fade as he ran. They were alive. So was she. She had to find a way to get out of this nook.

"The fuck?" she mumbles, seeing something shine between the walkers.

She scoots closer, knife in hand. In the middle of the lawn was a grappling hook. She heard something about Spencer attempting to get away by grappling, or zip-lining (whatever the hell he was trying to do). He must have left it there in the haste to get away.

Stealthy as ever, Sakiko crawls out of the little space, grabbing the end of the rope and tugging it carefully to her.

How the hell does one even use a grappling hook?

She doesn't let that get to her, taking the hook in her free hand and standing up straight. The walkers around still didn't notice her just yet, the blood still doing its job to hide her.

She follows the herd inside, moving even slower than them to not get found out by the beings. Something about it made her feel more claustrophobic than ever before.

"Kiko..? Sakiko?" her name is whispered.

That sent straight fear through her.

She looks around until she notices someone on top of the watch platform. Maggie.

Her eyes widen, detouring from the herd and heading her way.

Ahead, she could see the makeshift church Gabriel and Hershel occupied on most days. She could see that the windows had sheets over it. People must be in there. Relieved, her shoulders relax just a bit. Sakiko points, Maggie following. Maggie nods, letting her know that she saw people run in there.

Still silent, Sakiko holds up the hook for Maggie to see. Maggie looks around, unsure about the herd. Sakiko holds a hand up, a mute way of saying hold on. She flings the hook up and Maggie catches it, hooking it on the rail of the tower.

Sakiko takes a step aside, pulling a knife out and centering it. She looks to Maggie, holding up three, two, one.. Sakiko flings the knife through the air. The weapon hits the gate, ricocheting off and bouncing between the iron and metal dual gates.

Sakiko waves for Maggie to hurry and Maggie takes the notion, sliding down the rope. Once her feet touch the ground, Sakiko rips her jacket off, throwing it over Maggie. It still had enough blood on it to get by until they made it to the church.

Sakiko looks back up, wriggling the rope until the hook falls on the ground. Maggie grabs her hand and the two girls take off running to the church- ducking and dodging any walkers that took notice of them.

Maggie tries to door, but it doesn't budge. Sakiko tugs Maggie to the side of the building, measuring the height with the hook.

A walker passes by, eyeing her. If the things had feelings, Sakiko would think it looked almost curious.
