"So, what's the plan?" Elena asked as she sat on her couch, Damon leaning against the door frame, Stefan pacing around the room, Bonnie pouring herself some tea and Caroline leaning back.
"The plan is made up of five steps." Caroline spoke, feeling confident.
"Step One: Make contact. We need to make contact with Klaus and set up a meeting time and place." Caroline smiled.
Step One: Make contact.
Elena stood near her bed. She was away from the rest of the group, wanting the conversation to be genuine.
"Klaus, it's Elena. I want to meet up and trade." Elena spoke into her phone, hearing Klaus speak after her.
"How about we meet at the Salvatore Boarding House tonight at 7 pm? I'll bring Isobel and Jeremy. You come alone." Klaus suggested.
"Fine. I'll be there." Elena agreed.
Hanging up the phone, Elena told the group about the meeting time and place.
"Step Two: Hide the dagger. Bonnie will spell the dagger so that Elena can get it close to Klaus without him even knowing it's on her." Caroline explained.
Step Two: Hide the dagger.
Bonnie laid the dagger on the table, her grimoire next to her as she lifted her hands up, beginning a cloaking spell.
Elena, Stefan, Caroline and Damon watched as Bonnie recited a spell that she had once read. After a while, the spell stopped.
"It's done. The dagger will be invisible to Klaus and Isobel." Bonnie handed the dagger to Elena, who dipped it in the special ashes before she hid it in her bag.
"Step Three: Meet with Klaus. Go to the desired location." Caroline continued.
Step Three: Meet with Klaus.
Elena stood at the door of the Salvatore Boarding House. She was alone, as Klaus asked. Damon and Stefan waited in the study, hiding somewhere close to the door so they could kill Isobel as soon as she entered.
"Hello Elena." Klaus let Elena inside the house, unaware of any unwanted guests that might have been lurking around.
"Isobel, leave." Klaus ordered, watching as Isobel left toward the study, Elena mentally smiling. If only they knew that Isobel was about to die without Klaus' knowledge.
"Step Four: False sense of security. We need Klaus to believe that Elena isn't hiding anything. That way, Elena can get close." Caroline exhaled.
Step Four: False sense of security.
Elena hid the dagger in her bag, happy that Klaus would have no idea. Sitting down, Elena spoke.
"I'm here to sacrifice myself, as long as you let Jeremy go." Elena started the trade. Klaus seemed interested.
"Why? No normal person would be willing to sacrifice themselves." Klaus smiled.
"I'm not normal, mainly because Jeremy has suffered enough because of me." Elena sighed, looking away.
"Okay. Jeremy is currently being dropped off at your house. If you sacrifice yourself without complaints, he'll remain unharmed." Klaus sat down.
"Of course." Elena agreed, feeling slightly more confident about stabbing Klaus.
"Step Five: Get close to Klaus and kill him. Get as close to Klaus as possible in order to stab him." Caroline looked away, trying to remain calm.
Step Five: Get close to Klaus and kill him.
Standing up, Elena let Klaus hold her. She felt his breath on her neck.
"Any last words before you become the ultimate sacrifice?" Klaus asked, unaware that Elena had the dagger in her hand, ready to strike.
"Go to hell, Klaus." Elena hissed.
"Ah. Memories." Klaus smiled as she let his fangs and the veins under his eyes appear. Fortunately, before he had a chance to kill her, Elena used her speed to turn around, stabbing Klaus in the heart with the dagger.
Elena watched in relief as Klaus' face turned grey, veins appearing. The dagger had officially killed him. Racing into the room, Damon smiled.
"They're both dead. Isobel and Klaus are dead." He cheered.
His smile disappeared when he saw Elena.
"Elena?" Damon was confused. She didn't move. She didn't show any expressions. She didn't say anything.
Without warning, she fell to the floor.
"ELENA!" Damon yelled, racing over to her. Bonnie, Caroline and Stefan ran into the room, confused.
"She isn't waking up! What's happening?!" Damon was concerned.
"The dagger. It killed her." Bonnie sighed, knowing how the dagger worked.
"What do you mean, "it killed her"? It killed Klaus, not her!" Damon was in disbelief.
"The dagger killed her because it must only be used by humans. If it is wielded and used by non-Original vampires and possibly werewolves, the dagger will claim the lives of it's victim and it's wielder." Bonnie explained.
"Can you save her?" Damon asked, now holding Elena in his arms as he cried.
"I can try. It might not work though." Bonnie sighed, getting closer to Elena, who wasn't breathing.
"Just try!" Damon demanded as he stood away from Bonnie, giving her the room to perform a spell.
For the next 30 minutes, Bonnie did as much as she could to revive Elena. After a while, Elena hadn't woken up, but was now breathing again.
"Is she going to be okay?" Damon asked, worried.
"She might not wake up, but yes, she's going to be okay." Bonnie smiled, hopeful.
