Elena had been in Damon's room most of the day. Whether she was on his laptop researching information about Whitmore or considering sending in a personal essay, Elena couldn't decide. Every time Damon entered his room, Elena would turn off his laptop, not wanting Damon to find out about her research into college.

"Elena. Write the essay. Submit the application." Bonnie smiled, sitting on Damon's bed.

"Bonnie, I can't. Not yet at least." Elena sighed.

"You're human now. You can finally enjoy college and not have to worry about your roommate finding your stash of blood or having to avoid parties to prevent any unwanted deaths." Bonnie stood up, smiling.

"I know, but I can't leave Damon, Caroline and Stefan to deal with Katherine." Elena stood up, pacing.

"Think of it this way. If you leave for college, you're less likely to be wrapped up in whatever wicked little tricks that Katherine comes up with. Who knows what stunt she might pull. But, if you're at college, she won't affect you." Bonnie sat at Damon's desk, tapping on the application page of the Whitmore College site.

She started filling out the form.

"Bonnie...stop. If anyone is going to fill out this application, it's going to be me." Elena removed Bonnie from Damon's desk chair, causing Bonnie to chuckle.

"What application?" Damon asked, walking into the room, confused. He held a sandwich in one hand and some bourbon in the other.

"I'm gonna leave now." Bonnie winked as she exited Damon's room. He placed the plate and glass on his bench, taking a peek at what was on his laptop screen.

"Whitmore College application?" Damon sat on his bed, interested.

"Yep. I'm considering applying for college, now that I am no longer a vampire." Elena smiled, going back to the keyboard that she had trouble touching.

"Oh, so you're leaving me now?" Damon pretended to be sad as he threw a pillow at Elena.

"I'm not leaving you, I'm just broadening my future. You, Stefan, Caroline and even Katherine will end up living for the next 400 to 600 years. And me? I'm going to get a good degree, settle down with a good job, get married and maybe have kids." Elena was right.

"Why can't you just stay here in Mystic Falls? I'll be lonely here without you." Damon stood up and walked toward Elena, wrapping his arms around her torso.

"I'd rather not fall victim to any of Katherine's horrid tricks." Elena smiled, Damon nodding.

"Understandable. But if you were to go to college, would you visit every weekend?" Damon asked, smirking.

"As long as Katherine isn't here." Elena finally thought of the right way to start her personal essay.

"So, you're serious about this college idea?" Damon asked, kissing Elena's cheek.

"Yes. It'll get me away from Katherine." Elena kissed Damon before continuing to type.

Downstairs, sitting near the fireplace, Katherine smiled. She used her vampire hearing to find out about Elena's plan to go to college. Katherine wanted to mess with Elena for as long as possible before she made her world come crashing down. She didn't want Elena going off to college, but if she did, Katherine wanted to mess around with Elena before she even went to college.

Three weeks had passed since Elena sent in her college application. She luckily got in and was starting to pack. Damon, Bonnie and Caroline were helping Elena to pack, slowly but surely getting things into boxes.

Katherine, on the other hand, wanted to start messing around with Elena. Getting out her phone, she dialled the Whitmore College number, a number that she had memorised since she found out that Elena got accepted.

"Hi. Is this the Whitmore College Admissions team?" Katherine put on her best Elena voice.

"Amazing. My name is Elena Gilbert and I have some requests that I would like to be considered?" Katherine began.

She couldn't let Elena get away with escaping her and going off to college.

After she was done with the call, she deleted her call history so none of her misdeeds could be traced back to her.
