Chapter 47: Together forever

"Enzo. I want you to keep Stefan occupied. If he isn't around to keep Damon from spiralling, then the wedding will be ruined. That's our objective." Katherine asked, Enzo nodding.

"Perfect." Katherine smiled as she watched Enzo walk away.

Damon stood in his bedroom, a tux tightly against his body as he tied his bowtie. Walking over to the massive window, Damon stood in the light, watching as his friends finished setting up the chairs. He was marrying Elena today, and nothing would go wrong. He wouldn't let anything go wrong.

He looked down at his bare hand. It had been over 3 years since he took the cure to become human, and he didn't regret a single moment.

He watched as Elena walked around the chairs, making sure that everything was perfect. He loved Elena for that.

"Bonnie, have you seen Stefan?" Caroline asked as Bonnie stopped preparing her protection spell.

"No, why?" Bonnie asked, confused.

"He was with me this morning, but then he disappeared." Caroline was concerned.

"You don't think Katherine has something to do with that?" Bonnie worriedly asked.

"She hasn't been interested in the wedding since the beginning. If she does have something to do with Stefan's disappearance, then we need to fix it before Damon and Elena find out." Caroline sighed, hoping that Stefan was okay.

"So, you're the infamous Stefan Salvatore." Enzo smirked as Stefan tried to continue preparations for the ceremony.

"What do you want Enzo? I have a wedding to help set up." Stefan rolled his eyes.

"Not while I'm around." Enzo smirked, stabbing Stefan in the chest with a dagger before tying him up and locking him in his bedroom closet.

"He's locked up. They won't find him for a while." Enzo spoke as Katherine walked into the room, a smirk on her face.

"Brilliant. Let the chaos begin." Katherine walked downstairs with Enzo, pretending like everything was okay.

There was only 2 hours until the wedding. Caroline and her mother were helping Elena get ready, only needing to apply her light face of makeup. Bonnie was frantically searching for Stefan, while maintaining the idea that he was okay. Alaric, Damon and Jeremy focused on getting the final touches ready. Knowing that she wouldn't be able to find Stefan on her own Bonnie enlisted the help of Matt and Tyler to find him.

"So Damon Salvatore is a human now?" Matt asked as he and Bonnie searched Stefan's room.

"Yep. He took the cure and ended up in hospital." Bonnie filled Matt in as they searched everywhere.

About to leave Stefan's room, Matt felt off.

"Was the closet door locked?" Matt asked, confused.

"Yeah?" Bonnie asked, watching as Matt walked over to the locked closet.

"What are you doing?" Bonnie looked shocked and confused when she saw Matt using his leg to bash down the door.

"Checking for Stefan." Matt made sure not to ruin his suit as he finally bashed the door down, his eyes widening to see Stefan tied up with a stake in his chest.

"Oh my god!" Bonnie removed the stake, allowing for Stefan to regain consciousness while Matt untied the rope.

"Stefan! Are you okay?" Matt asked, concerned.

"I am now. Enzo and Katherine tied me up to make sure that Damon spiralled, leading to the wedding being ruined." Stefan explained.

"We can't let that happen." Matt was determined to make sure that Elena and Damon's wedding went off without any problems.

By the time Stefan, Bonnie and Matt got outside, everyone was starting to get ready to begin. Damon was up at the altar, a priest ready to begin. Stefan ran over to the alter, standing next to Jeremy. Elena was waiting inside for her cue with Liz, while Bonnie and Caroline stood in front of them.

The ceremony was planned to be small. Maybe between 20-25 people, mostly friends and family from within and outside Mystic Falls.

The wedding music had started. Everyone who was watching stood up. Damon looked at the front door of the Boarding House, seeing his beautiful fiancé walking down the aisle, Liz next to her. She looked gorgeous in her mother's wedding dress and Damon couldn't admire her more. As she got closer, he started tearing up. He never really tested up, but when he did, it was for a good reason.

When Elena reached the altar, Damon joyfully held her hands as he tried not to cry. The priest started, getting halfway through the ceremony. Elena had spoken her vows and Damon had just finished his vows when someone grabbed Elena and held her.

"Katherine! Let her go!" Damon demanded, Katherine laughing.

"Never. You will suffer for everything you did to me, Damon. I think I'll start with your fiancé!" Katherine hissed, letting her vampire form be seen by everyone in attendance.

"Back away Katherine." Bonnie stood up.

"Not gonna happen, bon-bon." Katherine smirked, using Damon's nickname for Bonnie.

"Fine then. Your funeral." Bonnie started glaring at her, forcing Katherine to let go of Elena into Damon's arms. He caught her, making sure he was okay.

Everyone watching in joy as Katherine fell to the floor in pain from Bonnie using her magic against her. Enzo ran off, not wanting to face the same fate.

Stefan tied Katherine up around a tree far away, making sure the ceremony could go on as normal.

"Continue." Bonnie smiled.

Smiling, the priest sighed, looking down at his book.

"Do you, Damon Salvatore, take Elena Gilbert, to be your lawfully wedded wife?" The priest asked, Damon too exited.

"I do." He smiled, putting the wedding ring on Elena's left ring finger.

"And do you, Elena Gilbert, take Damon Salvatore, to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest asked.

"I do." Elena grinned, putting the wedding ring on Damon's left ring finger.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." The priest announced, Damon not hesitating to passionately kiss Elena, everyone around them erupting into cheer.

As soon as the guests had gone home, Elena and Damon, the newly married couple, headed to his room unable to keep themselves from doing anything more than PG 13.
