Elena had been cooped up for who knows how long. Refusing to go back to the Boarding House, Matt gave them access to the Grill, so Elena spent the next 3 hours downing lots of water and lots of food.
Bonnie and Damon sat opposite Elena, who had been sitting next to Caroline.
"What happened down there?" Bonnie asked, concerned.
"He claimed that I was a vampire. When I proved that I wasn't, I told him that the cure for Vampirism was in my system and he basically drained most of my blood. He took my blood and ran off through the back exit just before you two arrived." Elena smiled at Caroline and Stefan.
"Your blood won't be any use to him." Damon muttered, Elena confused.
"What do you mean?" Elena put down the cup that held her first coffee of the day.
"The blood in your system won't be any use to him, because it had been a while since you consumed it. It would have slowly exited your system." Damon explained, Stefan's expression changing. Elena noticed and figured that Stefan knew something that Damon was hiding.
"There's more, isn't there?" Elena sighed.
"The cure isn't gone, not yet anyway." Damon tried his best to keep the eye contact with Elena, but her piercing stare was difficult to look at.
"What? How?" Elena asked, shocked.
"Damon only gave you half of the cure. There is still half of the cure in Damon's bedroom." Stefan revealed, Elena looking at Damon with confusion.
Seeing that Elena was clearly still processing the information, she walked outside, Bonnie, Stefan and Caroline not daring to follow her. Damon, who knew how this situation would end, followed Elena, watching as she sat down at one of the tables outside.
"Were you going to tell me?" Elena asked, looking out at the town square.
"Yeah, eventually. I mean, who knows what could happen in the next few years..." Damon smiled, hoping to make Elena feel better.
"Why didn't you give me all of the cure? Were you thinking about taking it yourself?" Elena asked, curious.
"I mean, the idea of not being able to live the rest of my life with you was really scary. I've been in love with you since I laid eyes on you and now that you're human again...it crossed my mind." Damon admitted, sighing.
"Damon, being a vampire is who you are. You've been a vampire longer than you've been human. I think that if you took the cure, you'd slowly regret taking it." Elena got serious. She hated trying to convince him not to take the cure, but she didn't want his life to turn bad because of her.
"Elena, you're human again. You'll die within the next 60-70 years. If I take the cure, I can be sure that I'll never have to worry about living the rest of my life without you." Damon had started really thinking about taking the sure now that Elena had brought him into the conversation.
"Fine. If that's your choice, I won't argue." Elena gave up. She knew what she wanted, and that was for Damon to be happy, whether or not he took the cure.
Looking at Damon, Elena couldn't tell what he was thinking. The idea of Damon taking the cure and becoming human again was foreign. She had never seen his human side, so she was just a little bit curious as to what it could be like to live with Damon, and love Damon without fearing about him killing people.
Entering the Grill, Elena smiled as she and Damon met back up with their friends, the conversation shifting back to the crazy professor.
"So, what do we do about professor Maxfield? I mean, he'll probably try and find the cure within my stolen blood." Elena took a sip of her water.
"We have to assume that he's long gone by now. Trying to find him will be difficult, but with a little bit of Bonnie's magic, maybe the search will become slightly easier?" Caroline looked at Bonnie who sighed before smiling.
"But, we will wait until Bonnie wants to." Stefan reassured Bonnie who looked nervous.
