"I know that Damon is human." Katherine revealed, shocking Elena.

"What?" Elena asked, confused.

"Don't play dumb with me Elena, the fact that he didn't try to kill me after I returned was a dead giveaway. Also, I haven't seen him drink a drop of blood since I've been back." Katherine smiled, sitting down opposite Elena.

"What do you want?" Elena asked, knowing that Katherine would most likely try to bargain with her.

"I don't want anything, Elena. I'm simply going to let you in on a little secret. And, what you do with that secret, is up to you." Katherine smiled.

"What's the secret?" Elena would soon regret asking that question.

"You remember Rebekah Mikaelson, right?" Katherine asked, pouring herself a glass of bourbon.

"Klaus' sister." Elena remembered, confused.

"Exactly. Now, there were two viles of the cure. Elijah gave one to Damon, and he gave the other vile to Rebekah, seeing as being human was all she wanted." Katherine started explaining.

"So?" Elena asked, unsure as to where Katherine would be going with the story.

"So, about 2 months after she took the cure and became human, she dropped dead." Katherine smiled. She always hated Rebekah.

"What?" Elena was shocked.

"Now, onto why this concerns you." Katherine smirked, excited to see how Elena would react.

"You see, because Rebekah had been a vampire for over 1000 years, when she took the cure, time caught up with her and she died." Katherine smiled, Elena horrified.

"Can you guess where I'm going with this?" Katherine asked, seeing the horrified look on Elena's face.

Katherine could see that Elena knew what she was hinting at, but she couldn't say it, actually, she didn't want to say it.

"Fine, I'll spell it out for you. Damon has been a vampire for over 170 years. Now that he's human, time will catch up with him and soon, he'll be dead." Katherine laughed, happy that Elena was going to suffer.

"How soon?" Elena asked, barely able to keep the tears from spilling.

"A month at most." Katherine smirked.

Elena couldn't believe it. She'd just married Damon and now Katherine explained that he has around a month to live.

"As for you, because you were a vampire for just under two years, you won't die. So, you'll live out the rest of your human days, without Damon, who took the cure in order to live happily ever after with you." Katherine rubbed her victory in Elena's face like someone would rub salt into a wound.

"Oh, and before I forget, you might want to tell Damon about the little...present, that you'll be expecting." Katherine stood up, smiling.

Without warning, Stefan appeared out of nowhere, stabbing Katherine in the heart with a stake. Elena, still upset from her talk with Katherine, looked at her now dead body in shock.

"To hell with Kathrine." Damon smiled, finally happy that Kathrine was now dead.

Elena took Damon's hand and led him to his room. Damon, confused as to what Elena was going to do, stayed silent. Elena had two options. She could tell Damon about what Katherine said and reveal that she's pregnant, or she could not tell Damon what Katherine said and tell Damon that she's pregnant.

Choosing the second option, Elena smiled, Damon's smile appearing.

"What's going on? Is everything okay?" Damon asked his wife, who couldn't stop smiling.

"Damon Salvatore, you are going to be a father." Elena revealed, Damon's face dropping.

"Please tell me you're not joking..." Damon hoped.

"Nope." Elena handed him the positive test, his face lighting up with joy.

"My wife is pregnant! I'm going to be a father!" Damon yelled loud enough for Bonnie, Stefan and Caroline to hear.

"What's going on?" Caroline asked, confused.

"You and Bonnie are going to be aunts." Elena smiled, Damon handing the positive test to Caroline.

Elena walked toward the window, a tear rolling down her cheek. She felt bittersweet. On one hand, she was happy that Damon was excited about the baby. But on the other hand, she really did wonder if she should've told him about what Katherine had said. Maybe he would have benefited from knowing, so he could spend as much time with her and their friends as possible. Who knew when he would die. The thought of Damon dying in a month was terrifying. She had just started a new chapter of her life with him and now that was going to be over soon.

"You okay, honey?" Damon asked as he walked over to Elena. He saw the tears rolling down her cheek.

To keep Damon happy, she lied.

"I'm just so excited about our baby." Elena smiled, kissing Damon with as much passion as possible.
