"Anything?!" Caroline asked as Bonnie kept reciting the spell that she was happy to cast.

"Caroline, I know you're worried about Elena, but the more you ask the same question, the less likely Bonnie is to find her." Stefan calmed Caroline down, Damon staying close to Bonnie just in case something went wrong.

"I saw her. She was laying on a table of some sort. She couldn't move. I think she's in a lab or something similar." Bonnie released herself from her spell, Damon handing her a tissue so she could wipe the blood from her nose.

"Wait, Professor Maxfield has a lab on campus! Maybe he's holding her there?" Caroline asked as she smiled.

"Number 1, that would be the first place to look, so holding her there would be kind of stupid. Number 2, holding her in his lab on campus would draw way too much suspicion." Damon rolled his eyes as Caroline's thought.

"Bonnie, do you think you'd be able to try again and find anything else?" Caroline asked, hopeful.

"Caroline, let's wait 'til Bonnie is feeling okay." Stefan smiled, holding Caroline's hand.

Elena could feel the cold leathery texture of the straps that she had been secured under. Feeling a bright light above her, Elena opened her eyes, confused as to where she had ended up.

"Ah, subject 83182 has woken up." Professor Maxfield spoke into what seemed to be his recorder.

"W-What are you doing to me!" Elena struggled to escape the restraints. She wished so badly to be a vampire again, but then again, she might not have been able to escape these restraints even in vampire form.

"You're a vampire, Elena. I have learned over my years that vampire blood is fast healing. People can sustain very serious injuries, but consuming vampire blood can make the injury disappear." Professor Maxfield explained, picking up a rather large needle.

"Look, I don't know what actually bit you, but I can assure you that I am not a vampire!" Elena tried to convince him, but the fact that he didn't hesitate to stick the needle into her arm made her really doubt her chances at escaping.

"I'm not a vamp-" Whatever had been injected into her system worked fast, as she was no longer trying to escape, but she was falling into another deep sleep.

She could feel a hand on her arm. Moving her head to face where the feeling was coming from, Elena opened her eyes to see Damon, in a hazy blur.

"Damon..." Elena whispered, feeling so out of it.

"Elena. We're going to find you. We're coming to get you." Damon smiled, his hand intertwining with Elena's.

"H-He's going to h-hurt you..." Elena murmured, trying to stay awake, enough to see Damon.

"Not if I get involved." Damon stood up, letting go of her hand.

Elena could feel something cold against her skin, but the feeling turned into pain when a liquid slowly trickled down her arm. Feeling her heart race, her eyes opened, unable to stop the pain she was feeling.

Once the cold object disappeared, Elena watched as Professor Maxfield waited for the wound to heal.

"Why isn't it healing?" He questioned, confused.

"Because, like I've been telling you, I am not a vampire!" Elena got angry.

"I saw your vampire form. I saw the fangs appear in your mouth. I watched as the veins appeared under your eyes!" Professor Maxfield got as angry as Elena.

"Katherine..." Elena realised what happened.

"Katherine? Who the hell is Katherine?" Professor Maxfield asked, confused.

"Katherine is my doppelgänger." Elena explained, avoiding his eye contact.

"What the hell is a doppelgänger?" Professor Maxfield put his needle down.

"You know so much about vampires, yet you don't know about doppelgängers?" Elena laughed.

"Just explain." He groaned.
