Chapter Thirty-Nine

"The Scout Regiment has murdered a civilian! Some of them have evaded capture! These people are dangerous! If you spot any of the people on these posters, report them immediately!"

A man screams as he swings pieces of paper around, Jean grabs a paper from him and covers his face with his hat. I pull my hood higher over my head as I follow him down the steps to where Armin and Mikasa wait.

We walk into the forest the rest of our squad coming into view, "Captain. We bought the supplies."

Jean announces while placing the bag on his back down, Armin takes the paper Jean was once holding walking closer to the captain.

"The MPs were handing out these flyers."

He grabs the paper only to be met with an illustration of himself, "if this is true the Scouts will be disbanded. They said they'll be hunting for us in the mountains tonight. They're also posting guards on all the vital roads. No one can get through them without a pass. So, Captain? What now?"

Mikasa speaks before the captain can, "we need to hurry and find Eren." That causes Levi to place the paper down and stare at Mikasa in annoyance.

"He'll be fine. They're taking him on a wagon. That gives us one day before they reach Reiss' estate. And we need every second we can get. To come up with a plan."

Sasha turns her head to the side looking into the trees, she looks back to the captain while pointing to where she was just looking.

"Captain. I hear footsteps." She whispers as everyone begins to look around, I lean in closer trying to listen.

"Sounds like they're approaching," I speak quietly as you can hear the noise of grass being crunched.

The captain sighs as he points to Mikasa, Armin, and me. He doesn't say anything as we all just follow him, to where the footsteps are leading up.

He grabs Armin's hood and places it over his head as he commands him to wait by the water, he then points to the two trees and signals for Mikasa and me to get into them as he steps back hiding out of sight from the people approaching.

Both Mikasa and I use our gear to swing into the tree, as Armin plays the part of the bait for the upcoming people.

"Don't move!" The boy commands while pointing his gun at Armin, I take a deep breath as I watch the scene unfold. "Turn around slowly.

Armin does as they say placing his hands up and turning to them slowly, the girl comes closer raising her gun higher to Armin.

"Not a sound, don't say a word."

He steps closer to Armin, acting all tough I smile knowing that he won't act like that the second we drop down.

"Now listen and do exactly as I instruct you to.-"

Neither I nor Mikasa let him finish his sentence as we fall from the trees, both of our blades out I grab the boy while Mikasa grabs the girl both of our swords to their necks.

Captain Levi walks out from his hiding spot. "That's the way. Now hands your guns to the one in the front."

They don't have any other choice than to let Armin take their guns, so he does disarm both of them.

"Don't say a word, right?" Armin says mocking what he was just told, I bite back a smile as Captain Levi grabs the guns from Armin and commands the rest of the squad to come out.

Sasha walks over to us with rope in her hands, "Don't move." That is all the captain says to them as he walks over and sits on a rock.

I lower my sword on the guy's neck as I push him to his knees, Mikasa doing the same to the short-haired girl.
