Chapter Fifty-Nine

         Three years ago

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen of Marley! Welcome to Paradis Island! Nice to meet you! I'm Hange! And it's an honor to welcome guests who've sailed from oh-so-far across the sea to come here! The trip must've left you exhausted, so why join us for some tea?"

I rest my head on my hand watching this painful interaction between Hange and the Marley soldiers who are in front of them.

"When do you think they'll give up on this stupid act?" I ask staring bored at the scene.

Sasha looks at me with a face, "I don't think ever. Commander Hange is a little..." Sasha doesn't even need to finish the sentence for me to understand what she means.

"Oh! I almost forgot. If you were curious about this guest of ours, he arrived just before you and was already getting along splendidly! Isn't that right? Tell them, Nicolo!"

Hange wraps their body around Nicolo while he stands there shaking, the captain holding a blade to the back of his neck.

"Please, Captain! Forget about me and gun these devils down while you can!" His words make Hange shake him even more, as their face turns up.

I begin to laugh a little, while Connie holds his laughter back.

"Huh? What are you saying?"

"Captain!" Nicolo screams even louder over Hange's voice.

A harsh slap is felt on the back of my head, I look back to see Mikasa. "Quit Laughing." She then looks over to Connie, "you too."

I scoff at her crossing my arms and placing a blank face back on.

"He's saying he doesn't want to be part of your shitty skit." Captain Levi tells Hange, looking done with their shit.

"Nicolo! Know this, you wretched devils! Marley doesn't negotiate with filthy bloods like you! And we're certainly not going to sit down with you and drink the pig piss you call tea!" The man yells raising his gun to Hange.

"Aw! Are you sure about that? Maybe you should be more polite. Unless you wanna piss off the Titan looming behind you!" They all look back at Eren who is standing there, looking kind of scary.

The man doesn't listen though.

"Marley will never bend to the power of devils! This is all she has to say to you!" The man looks like he is going to pull the gun trigger on Hange, but instead, his body is dropped to the floor as a gunshot is heard.

A woman that is very tall, and has hair cut very short stands with her gun out. Connie begins to slap at my side, "Adelita! Do you know her?! Or him! Do you know them!" I turn around looking at Connie with pure annoyance.

"Once again Connie, just because I'm from Marley doesn't mean I know everyone."

His smile drops seeing as I didn't know either of these people.

"That big lady shot and killed her captain without a second thought. What do you think she's hoping to do?"

I poke around at Armin's fingers listening to the conversations going on in front of me. "Can't say, but even if she's on our side, we obviously can't trust her," Jean speaks, I continue to pinch and squeeze Armin's hands out of boredom.

The noise of Sasha's snoring fills the silence, only for Mikasa to come over and grab her by the hair. "No napping, Sasha."

"Yeah, but this is still an incredible chance, for us to gather information. We're really lucky we found them." Armin speaks trying to make the best of things, I look up to him.
