Chapter Twenty-Nine

I wake up to someone throwing me over their back, as I open my eye, I see that it is still bright outside. I look down at the person and catch sight of Bertholdt.

I don't have the motivation to argue so I lay on his back, praying the suffering will end soon.

He jumps down to the branch where Ymir and Eren are, I see that Eren hasn't calmed down yet and is fighting Reiner with his nubs.

"Ymir. When you changed back into a human, did you get any memory of the person you ate?" She gasps and shakes her head, "no not really. We're talking about something that happened five years ago."

And then it clicks in my head, I make a noise and stare at her with my eye wide. "You're the jaw titan! You ate Marcel!"

"Oh, wow sleeping beauty is awake, surprised you're not dead yet." She comments while smirking at me, I close my eye sighing.

"I'm trying."

She laughs and places a hand on my shoulder, I stare down at it.

"You're so funny! I can see why Armin likes you!" She exclaims I furrow my brows, not understanding.

"What does that mean?"

I hear loud grunting and screaming so I turn to the side and see Eren beneath Reiner, trying to hit him.

"But I'm sorry, I don't remember. I'm guessing you knew the person." She says while continuing to watch Eren fail to fight Reiner.

"Most people don't remember; it's fine not like you knew what you were doing."

"How long were you wandering outside the walls?" Bertholdt asks her she sighs looking up towards the sky.

"About sixty years, every day felt like hell." A loud gunshot makes her stop talking, I look over and see that Eren passed out and Reiner is tying him to his back.

"There is no time, Bertholdt grab Ymir we have to go!" Reiner shouts out over to him he nods, and I look towards Ymir, I sigh and signal for her to jump onto my back.

She squeezes my sides, and my body feels like it's on fire. Her touch and the pain in my leg are enough to make me feel as if I'm dying right now.

"For now, we find a place without Titans! As far away as possible, I haven't recovered enough to outrun these guys. They surround us there is jack shit my Titan form can do right now."

"Then why the hell didn't we just wait for the sun to go down?!" Ymir turns her head to look at what is behind us when she gasps, "smoke signals the scouts came to save us?"

"Damn it! That formation wouldn't work unless they hoisted a bunch of horses over the wall, who gave that order?"

I turn my head back and look at the smoke signals coming closer to us, Armin is there. He is just over there, and he doesn't know what he is about to find, tons of Titans. Mikasa too, all the people I considered my friends are walking into a death zone.

"Wait, no! We have to stop; they're going to get killed!" I yell towards Reiner he doesn't say anything until the realization hits Ymir.

"Reiner! We have to go back, Krista's with them! This is our best chance!"

"You're full of it, no way you can see that far!"

Ymir's voice starts to change, as it fills with worry. "No, think about it! Girl's a big softie she had to come to rescue me!"

"Well, too bad it'll have to wait!"

Ymir's hold starts to loosen on me, "Reiner, please! They are going to get hurt! How could you do this, forget Krista but they are all our friends!"
