Our walking came to a stop when I found a med kit, I grab Armin and sit him down on the ground and then step behind him unpacking the kit.
Jean stands beside Reiner's horse that came back not even a second after leaving, he is trying to call his horse back and is failing terribly. Armin's horse is also still gone too and mine is close behind, seeing as I didn't fall off of it, I left it.
"Tell me if I tie it too tight," I state to Armin taking off the now blood-stained makeshift bandage I made him. He doesn't say anything, but I know he is listening I take the bandages and quickly wrap them around his head.
I wrap it around a couple of times before tying it up to keep it on his forehead, he thanks me while Reiner watches us.
"Adelita, you would make a perfect mother. Wife too." Reiner says nudging Jean in the process, Jean stops calling for his horse and nods his head. "I agree too, you got that bitch mood but you're so sweet."
"Maybe you should focus on calling your horse unless you want to be left behind," I tell him flatly while cleaning the med kit.
"She's right, one of us is going to have to stay here," Reiner states, Jean looks back at him his eyes wide. I can tell he doesn't want to stay.
"Wait a sec! Shouldn't we at least fire off a smoke signal first? If everyone kept going straight, row four, squad three ought to be near us by now."
Jean takes out his smoke shooters and grabs a purple one, shooting it into the air but rolling his eyes as doing so. "Well, that's the emergency signal... but who knows, I doubt anyone will see it and will think someone needs a horse."
"Hey, listen... if no one shows in three minutes, we're going to have to decide who stays."
"Should be me," Armin says cutting Reiner off, I shake my head. "No, you shouldn't stay you might have a concussion, and being alone would be the worst option," I inform him, but he shakes his head and wants to stick his ground.
"I rather stay than Armin, that way he has two people there with him," I tell them, volunteering myself up no one has a problem with it other than Armin. He looks guilty like he put me in the situation of staying here, I hope he knows I can take care of myself.
"Hey, wait. I think we all might be able to stay because someone's coming, and they have horses!" Jean says chuckling, I look ahead and see Krista she is so nice it's odd.
As Jean is smiling and petting his horse, Krista talks to him I ignore what they're saying and start to tie my hair up. I don't have any other elastics to secure my braids, so a ponytail is the best option, but it's hard when my hair is reaching to my hips, but I will not cut it.
"So, did you guys fight a titan?... Oh no, Armin your head!" She exclaims staring at Armin I look towards her my stare blank as she is wearing a look of worry.
"I wrapped it; he'll be fine."
"Adelita! You're bleeding too!" I roll my eyes at how loud she is, if titans weren't after us now, they sure would be with her loudmouth. "I'm fine Krista, really it's no big deal."
"You should've seen her Krista; she was slicing the titan up! I would never expect someone so small like Adelita to be like that."
I groan and hop onto my horse, "instead of talking about what happened; we should focus on the now."
She starts to go teary eye a little bit and starts to sniffle, "I'm just glad... you all are alright."
All the boys stare at her deeply that is until Jean turns towards me. "Why couldn't you be as nice as, Krista?"
"I am regretting saving you."
Krista just smiles, "now come on. We need to rejoin the formation." She tells us, I nod my head agreeing with her as I start to leave first the rest following.
"Green smoke?!" Jean shouts out seeing as the formation isn't turning back but it's changing course.
"Wait, that doesn't make sense." I speak to them Krista nodding her head towards me, "yeah guys I agree with Adelita."
"Every one of us has the authority to declare the mission failed, why isn't anyone speaking up is the command squad too far ahead to see their signals?"
Armin answers Reiner back, agreeing that we should just keep moving forward.
Not to let the smoke stop us. He then shoots off his green smoke as we keep moving, this is so boring I wouldn't have gone with my own decision if I knew it would be this boring. Annie had to have some fun in the military police.
We're just following the orders, but it's leading all of us to the forest. "You're kidding, we on a sightseeing tour or what? How much further do they want us to stray off course?" Jean announces loudly, breaking the silence that was going on.
"Well, so be it Commander Erwin must have something in mind," Armin responds, I sigh and look at him. "Armin, not to be a bitch but are you like in love with him. He isn't even that amazing."
"When did I say he was?"
I make a face at him deciding to just stay quiet. "Well, he doesn't expect us to camp here. Not with that female titan on our ass." Jean tells us turning everyone's gaze to him, but he's talking comes to an end.
"All soldiers halt!"
Once we stopped were forced to tie our horses up and listen to the man giving us orders. "Alright, rookies listen up! We are assuming intercept position within the trees, if any titans try to enter the forest stop them! Whatever it takes!"
He finishes talking no one talks until Jean decides to, "uh... excuse me, sir."
"I've given you an order!" And with that he swings off into the trees, I nod my head and start to walk off.
"Hey! Adelita where are you going?!" Krista yells to me, I swing to one of the trees and look down at them. "You heard his orders, or was it just me?" And with that, I swing off to another tree leaving them now being on my own, how I like it.
I find my tree and stay there not going with the rest, they'll be alright with one less person. I take a seat on the trunk of the tree laying and thinking of everything, like how this came to be, and I just feel sick.
Disgusted within me for keeping a lie like this, for causing all of these people pain and trauma but it's okay because they're island devils.
A grunt leaves my mouth as I turn my head covering my eyes, as they start to water the thought of Marco comes to me once again. How I did that to him, how I killed him.
How could I do it to him? Someone who considered me a friend.
Every time I close my eyes I'm back there, hearing his screams, pleads, the sounds of him choking on his tears.
All the things I did to him, the thoughts won't die down in my head and they just keep coming back louder causing an ugly sob to come from my lips.
Even though he is gone, I still see him, and I can't take it seeing him knowing what I did to him.
Feeling sick every time I look at Jean because I don't think he'll ever know the truth and I don't think I'll ever be able to tell him.
But my tears are cut short when I hear a bloodcurdling scream, and I know this scream and it can only mean one thing.
"Annie?"
