Ch-11 : Plan

Alpha: Most probably it was one of our wolves. I want you track them down and bring them back.

Chan: Was that person from the defense force or someone who had important information about the pack? Because if not, then I don't understand why we need to bring them back since it was their choice to leave the pack. Code 6: Once a wolf leaves the pack they don't belong there anymore.

Alpha: It was a pup.

Hyunjin: How can a pup possibly get through the gates?

Alpha: They skillfully lured the guard out and opened the gates.

Hyunjin: How? The control room is a confusing place even for tech majors.

Alpha: It wasn't exactly a pup but it wasn't a full-grown wolf either. Judging from the looks of the wolf it looked like a she-wolf who might barely be an adult. Could be a teen, a wolf pup regardless.

He turned to the screen and showed the footage showing you in your wolf form running through the gates.

Yoonmin: Shit!

Chan: Yoonmin, language!

Seungmin: Wait, he looks like he knows something.

Yoonmin: No, no, no, no, no....

Chan: What's wrong?

Yoonmin: We messed up. I shouldn't have left her alone. That's Juno's wolf!

Some widened their eyes while the others mumbled in shock.

Alpha: You all know her?

Chan: She's from the academy.

Hyunjin: How did she even know how to open the gates using the control panel? I still haven't gotten the hang of it.

Yoonmin: She might've picked up a few things from me.

Hyunjin: Damn, I underestimated your abilities.

Alpha: Do you possibly know the reason for her to do such a thing?

Felix: Family issues.

Jisung: It still doesn't explain why she would run away though since everything is fine now.

Yoonmin: I'm sorry but I can't just sit here anymore and wonder why she did that. I can ask her myself later but first I need to go and get her.

Chan: Yoonmin, calm down!

Yoonmin: Calm down? Are you hearing yourself? Calm down???? How do you expect me to calm down?! She's my sister and she's barely 18 and she's out there all by herself!

Alpha: Park Yoonmin, you're the Zeta. We will bring your sister back safely but for that we need to think carefully. And who would be better to devise a plan than a zeta?

Chan: Why not the defense team though? Why us?

Alpha: This can become an issue once it is introduced to the council. The wolf would have to face a trial for acting against the rules and undergo a punishment decided by the council. I do not want that in this case since I thought it was a pup but either way, she is pretty young. So, what's your plan?

Chan: I think we should contact the Wonderland pack and ask them to be on the lookout for a wolf on the run since their pack is nearer to the buffer zone and that's where she is headedas seen in the footage from the cctvs at the forest border.

Felix: We can't search the whole forest right now. And crossing the buffer zone is harder. Why would she take that route instead of the usual one?

Hyunjin: The footage shows her going towards the forest instead of taking the usual shortcut to the city. It's obvious because she doesn't have any vehicle with her and the forest can enable her to avoid being spotted easily. So, she will have to cross the buffer zone which is unavoidable if you want to cross the forest. And the buffer zone also connects the two packs which makes it easier for us to corner her there.

Yoonmin: Thank God she's dumb enough to not realise it's easier to blend among humans! We can alert them to be on the lookout till we reach there. Once we do, we wait for her which she will definitely not be expecting.

Jeongin: The buffer zone goes throughout the forest. How do we know at which point we will be able to find her?

Seungmin: The buffer zone connects the two packs. Wonderland is on one side and Wolfgang on the other. Though we don't use that route when we travel, at times like these it's perfect to corner our target because they can't escape on either side and if they try to escape back into the forest, they still can't outrun two defense teams at once. Meanwhile the two packs split and patrol every few miles at the buffer zone so we don't miss her

Jeongin: But what about this mission being a secret?

Chan: Alpha Hongjoong can be trusted with this. He won't let this information out.

Alpha: Good! I'll inform Hongjoong about it. You should get ready to leave too. But make sure to minimize the casualties as much as possible. Especially the pup- the wolf in question should be safe and sound.

Everyone: Yes Alpha!

Everyone headed out the meeting room while Yoonmin could be seen visibly panicking.

Seungmin: It's okay, Yoonmin! We'll bring her back.

Yoonmin: I'm scared of anyone else finding her before either of the packs. She can fight for herself but I'm still scared since she is young and fighting alone against many would just harm her.

Changbin: Either of the packs will find her before anything can happen to her since we will be using our cars and she will be relying on her wolf alone. We need you to try your best to stay calm since she would need you.

They changed into their clothes and gathered the required gear.

Jisung: Minho why are you taking your rifle with you? We are not going to kill her!

Minho: It's not to kill her. It is to protect her if there is any asshole in our way.

Hyunjin: Why are you grabbing wolfsbane in the first place, Jisung?

Jisung: To eliminate anyone in our way.

Changbin: Wolfsbane can kill a wolf.

Seungmin: As if a bullet from a rifle can't.

Changbin: It can inflict damage but not as much as a silver bullet can which is the equivalent of wolfsbane.

Minho: Oh! Now that you said it, let me grab that too.

Chan: We won't be needing silver bullets. Minho and Jisung you can put the wolfsbane back because we won't need that either.

Felix: Though keeping it wouldn't hurt because we never know what we might come across out there.

Seungmin: The latest forest patrol ended last week so there are barely any chances of anything lurking out there.

Every month a patrol team would be sent by either one of the packs to patrol the whole forest territory of Wolfgang and Wonderland for any intruders and other casualties. Usually, the packs took turns sending a team. If Wolfgang sent a team for the first month, then Wonderland would send a patrol team for the next. The patrols would usually last for 7 days or sometimes more according to the circumstances.

Chan: He's right! You just need the essentials. All done team?

Everyone: Yes, Alpha!

Chan: Good, let's go!
