Ch-65 : Gift

Chan: Juno, that is a frog...

Juno: I thought the same at first...

Juno: ... but then I realised he is a toad.

Chan: That is one huge toad...

Juno: Yeah, he's really old. But he is a really good guy. I would come here and talk to him whenever I felt alone and he always stayed. He never said I was scary, annoying or weird. Maybe because he can't speak...

Juno: -but by the tone of his voice, I mean croaking, I think he agrees with me. Mostly.

Chan couldn't help but laugh. You had a part of innocence in you which you had masked to look tough. But he understood that for someone who was abandoned before birth and bullied, you wanted to prove you could make it on your own.

And since he saw this innocent side, he found it very cute.

Chan: Does Mr.Froads like me?

Juno: He approves of you. His eyes don't look angry right now which means he is fine with you. Do you want to hold him?

Chan: Uh... With all due respect, I don't like sli...my stuff.

You rolled your eyes.

Juno: Ignorance. He is a toad, not a frog. He is not slimy. His skin is bumpy and dry. But it's okay if you don't want to hold him. He can look intimidating sometimes.

You put Mr.Froads down and watched as the toad crawled away. You went to the water and washed your hands. You heard Chan gasp behind you and speak in tiny voice.

Chan: There is a firefly here!

Juno: There are fireflies here. Look around.

He looked around and squealed with happiness. You smiled as you walked back to him.

Chan: Look! There's one here, and one here... and one here and one here and oh, that one and one here...

You couldn't help but let out a giggle at how adorable he looked.

Chan: Oh, look! That one is... twinkling? Like turning on and off.

Juno: It's flashing itself.

Chan looked at you confused.

Chan: Flashing?

Juno: You know how people 'flash' their partner to turn them on, fireflies flash their lights to attract their mates.

Chan: You could've skipped the first part.

Juno: But they're literally flashing their stomach. The light is situated in their abdomen so technically they are flashing a body part.

You both looked at each other and broke into laughter. You sat down as you both were tired and looked at the beautiful scenery.

Chan: So, you introduced me to Mr.Froads earlier...

You hummed in response.

Chan: I have someone I want to introduce you to, too. But first, you need to close your eyes.

You did as he said. When you opened your eyes, he was holding a plushie in front of your face. You looked at the plushie and then at Chan who was behind it.

Juno: A wolf plushie? It looks a lot like you like when you smile and your eyes turn into crescents and the dimples and the curly strand of hair!

Chan smiled happily.

Chan: You noticed.

Juno: Of course, this is exactly what you would look like if you wore the wolf ears I gave you for Christmas.

Chan gave you a look that said "really bruh?" which made you laugh.

Juno: Just kidding

He went back to smiling.

Chan: This is Wolf Chan.

Juno: That's his name? He's cute.

Chan: Thanks

Juno: That was for wolf chan.

Chan: I'm a wolf and I'm Chan.

You chuckled.

Juno: Where did you get this from? Is this available at stores? How does it resemble you so much?

Chan: It is custom made.

You stared at him.

Juno: You got this made for me?

Chan: It was my valentines' day present for you. I was wondering how to give it to you today. I wanted to take you out but didn't know how to since you're not a fan of Valentines' Day so this date was the perfect opportunity to give it to you.

Did he say he wanted to take you out on a date? He gave this to you as valentines' day gift? You took wolf chan in your hands. The plushie was really soft. You could smell a faint velvety scent on it. Jun was squealing with happiness and you felt jitters at his gesture but of course you wouldn't admit it.

Juno: Cliché

Chan chuckled at your remark.

Juno: But thanks... I didn't get anything for you though... I mean I didn't know what day it was...

Chan: There is something you can give me right now.

Juno: What?

Chan: A kiss
