You were currently sitting in a chair placed right in the middle of an oval wooden table. To your right sat all the future members of the council, including Chan, and to your left, all the current ones. Opposite to you sat the current alpha of your pack, Chan's father, Alpha Bang.
It was your first trial. A total of three trials were to be taking place to decide whether you were fit to lead the pack.
You wrung your palms in your lap as you prepared yourself for the onset of the barrage of questions.
Council member: What is protocol 505?
Juno: Protocol 505 is the protocol one must follow during Red codes. Building evacuation, complete border shutdown, and elimination on sight.
Council member: When is a Code Red declared?
Juno: A Code Red is issued when mass infiltration poses a threat to the pack's safety.
Council member: What is the hierarchy during a Code Red?
Juno: Special forces to the front while the general units keep the pack members safe. Gammas lead the front lines while the betas stay by the alpha, ensuring their safety. In short, protect the alpha at all costs.
---------------------------
Council member: Miss Juno, what do you think a pack is?
Weeks had flown by, and once again you found yourself sitting in the same chair, facing the same people. Watchful eyes followed your every move from the stuttering to the straightened shoulders. It was officially, trial number two.
Juno: A family.
Council member: Wrong. A pack is a monarchy.
Juno: Staying in packs is what makes wolves stronger than other animals. A pack is a wolf's family. That family ensures the safety of the wolf when it is a pup. Once of age, the pup would now work to contribute to the pack. When age affects it, the next generation would take on their responsibility. Each looks after the other. Hence, a family. Monarchy is an economic system of ruling. It is true, wolves are born with their ranks. But the nature of a wolf's being is not to be confused with an artificial capitalist and status system.
Council member: What would you do if you got accepted into the council?
Juno: Make life more worth living for every wolf in this pack that feels otherwise.
Council: How do you plan on doing that?
Juno: By listening to their needs.
Council: No plans or promises of what you'd do if you become the alpha?
Juno: I cannot say I know what every pack member needs. Needs and necessities vary from individual to time to circumstances. A promise can only assure you that the action will be completed. It doesn't garauntee tthe fulfillment of the pack's needs. What I can promise, is that I'd sincerely pay attention and take care of what is necessary for our people.
---------------------------
It was finally time for the trial that decided your fate. Trial number three.
In the waiting room, the members surrounded you, offering words of encouragement. The August air was hot. Despite the AC being on the lowest temperature, you kept wiping your clammy hands on your sides.
Minho: Stop fidgeting. You'll be fine.
Juno: I am trying!
Felix: I understand that you're nervous for your last hearing today, but you've prepared well. Just try to be relaxed. A confident personality is more impactful.
