Yoonmin: You let her live?

Yoonmin asked Chan pointedly. One could almost feel the underlying accusatory tone in his voice.

Everyone sat in the livingroom. This matter couldn't wait.

Minho: And I assume the only reason she gets a free pass to live is because she's Snow, Chan's "friend"? Attacking the alpha's mate is considered unforgivable in every pack. You know that.

Minho, who also seemed to share the sentiment, spoke. The air was thick. All eyes were on Chan, as if waiting to hear what they wanted him to say.

Chan: Living and watching me love the very woman she tried to kill will, be her lifelong  punishment.

Your eyebrows shot up unable to believe the sweet alpha had this side to him.

Bong Cha: That's not enough! She'll still roam around freely as if she's done nothing wrong.

The exasperation was evident in her voice.

Chan: Detainment from the academy and after our coronation she will be assigned under Juno.

Changbin: You sure you want to keep someone that tried to hurt your woman, right beside her?

Chan: Doses of wolfsbane to be administered everyday. In a controlled amount, enough to keep her alive but in pain.

Wolfsbane. One of the things that could easily kill a wolf. Giving it to her for the rest of her life meant a slow and painful death. Not enough to kill, but just enough for one to wish they were killed.

Juno: Hey that's... too much...

Minho: This is how punishments are done in packs, Juno. That is why people think before doing anything in Wolfgang. There are only a few that would possess morality without consequences. And that's why consequences need to be dire.

Juno: But drugging her every day? Scratch that! Poisoning her everyday?

Hyunjin: What do you want then? Let her go? If she isn't punished right now, she will do it again.

Changbin: Pack laws are to be followed, Juno. They exist for a reason.

Juno: But I'm alive and fine.

Chan: What do you want us to do then? Forgive her? Pretend like she didn't try to kill someone so important to not only me, but also the pack? Your position makes it even more necessary for a proper punishment to be given.

Chan's voice was laced with anger and agitation as if every minute that passed made it harder  to not wreak havoc.

Jeongin: We can't be soft now Juno.

Jeongin put his hand on top of yours, eyes full of empathy. You took a deep breath before speaking.

Juno: Don't give her wolfsbane.

Chan: Murdering the alpha is a serious crime, Min Juno. Even if the alpha is yet to be appointed.

You looked around the room and noticed the stern looks on everyone's faces so much unlike the carefree ones you saw daily. They were really adamant on not tolerating such behaviour.

Juno: Do I really have to learn to do this to become a part of the council? Moreover, the future alpha?

Chan: As much as you wouldn't want to, you have our people to protect. And in order to protect them, you'll have to discipline or even, eliminate the ones causing harm. No matter how much you would want to let them go, you cannot. People don't learn if their actions don't have consequences that harm them in return. If they can do it to you, they can do it to your pack too.

Juno: Don't give her the wolfsbane.

You repeated staring at the floor.

Chan looked right at you.

Chan: We cannot risk any harm to you, Alpha.

Chan uttered the words you had never expected from him. That's when it hit you.

They had to protect you as their alpha. It was a responsibility they would not throw away just because you told them to. It made you realise that if you had to ask anything from them, you had to take responsibility for anything that went wrong from that moment.

Juno: Do not give her wolfsbane. She will work directly under me. I give you my word. If any harm occurs to me or any pack member due to Snow, I shall carry out the disciplinary actions

You looked around at all the faces staring back. After a few seconds of silence, Seugmin spoke up.

Seungmin: Yes, Alpha.

Not a single voice in the room argued with your decision. Not Bong Cha, not Chan and not even Yoonmin. You were an authority they all had to acknowledge. And they did.

The realisation set in. You couldn't run from your fate any longer.

Maybe, it was about time to step up and do what needed to be done.

Sorry. I was gone too long.
So much has changed. You guys probably changed a lot too.
Still, I hope our love for reading, and a world we share through words doesn't change.
Let's keep meeting in these worlds we create.
