soldiers vs. kids

"These relationship struggles must be a genetic disposition. Sky 2 : Scar 3"

"You've been dating Sam?", Sky asks me as we're on our way to his room to ask Riven where Beatrix is. We hope that if we find her, we find Bloom as well. Sky seems to use this time as a sibling rebound. "The earth fairy Sam? Your good friend Sam?" 

"Yeah. Well, it was supposed to stay a secret", I shrug. "Scar, seriously. What happened to ‚we want to be honest with each other'? If not you and I, who then?" "I'm sorry, Sky, you're right. Sam and I wanted to see each other without any comments by others but somedays I've felt like he was ashamed of me. We've been dating for some time. We broke up a few weeks ago." 

"I'm sorry that I wasn't there for you. How do you deal with it?", Sky asks worriedly and I smile at him to calm him down. "It's fine, I'm over it. Sam and I are just friends and I'm fine with it. Sam tried to help me many times when Saul was infected. I could see him trying to be a good friend. Well, Riven told him to go away but I appreciate Sam's effort." 

"So I don't have to beat him up?", Sky replies jokingly and I laugh. "Definitely not. And you didn't leave me alone. I haven't told you so it's not your fault. I know you'd be here for me when I need you." 

"That's true. And I'm glad you're over it", Sky nods, "And you say my love life is so complicated. Looks like you're my biggest competitor." "No chance!", I deny his statement laughing. I need to thank Sam for what he's done for me.

"Where is she?", Sky and I confront Riven after we've found out about the news. "Who?" "The crazy sex-addict who's guiding you by your dick", I say more concretely, "Where is she?" "No idea", Riven chuckles, "I mean, she's not glued to me. What could you two possibly want from her?" 

"We're looking for Bloom. Beatrix was the last one to be around her and-" "Are you being serious? I've sent you about twenty messages and you're looking for Bloom everywhere?", Stella comes in. Great. 

"Stel, it's not what it seems to be. It's serious this time", I try to make clear and hope that she understands me. "Yeah, we've got no time for that", Sky stresses. "Why are you like that? I need you now", Stel goes on so I shake my head. I love Stella but she's exaggerating. I know her mom and I understand her but she doesn't need only Sky. 

She could talk to me or wait a bit. "Bloom's went missing. We've got no idea if she's in danger or hiding somewhere but it could be connected to the fact that thanks to you, everyone knows that she's a changeling." 

"I didn't mean to hurt her." "You may not want to be like your mom, but as far as I know, you're treating everyone else just the way as she does with you. I'm done, Stella. Once and for all", Sky finishes and looks at me so I nod. 

"I'm sorry, Stella. I'll help Sky now", I say quietly and follow Sky. I've had enough of standing between my brother and my friend. Plus, Sky and I have to look for Bloom which is still more important in this exact moment.

As soon as Bloom is driven back to school by the teachers, the girls and I stand there to hug her first. Her reaction however, is weird. "Sky, Scar?", Saul calls us so we follow him to see how he locks Beatrix up. 

It's weird seeing her like that but I don't pity her. I don't have any emotions towards her. "Sky, Scar", Saul tells us to follow him back to the hall. "Why haven't you told us what's going on?", Sky immediately asks angrily. 

"I've told you what you needed to know." "No! After the party, you've told me to stay with Bloom to find out more about her. That's not the same as ‚Maybe-someone-wants-to-kill-her'." "What you're doing is really important, Sky, but I ask you two for one thing: Trust me." 

"We do. You know that exactly." "Well, I trust you as long as there's a reason for it", I reply sharply, "You have to tell us more than what we need to know. We're not just some random students that you don't know." "Scar's right. We need to know the truth", Sky agrees with me. 

"One of the lessons that you're supposed to learn at this school is that a soldier sometimes only follows order. So let me repeat it once more. You're going to make sure that Bloom trusts you and then you'll find out what happened on that trip what you'll tell me about. That's how you show your loyalty, towards me and Alfea", Saul makes clear and the sharpness in his voice makes me furl my eyebrows. 

Sky may do what he says but I've lived in too much chaos to follow orders. "Bullshit", I hiss, "We're no soldiers, Saul. Not only. We're your kids." "Then do what I say as my kids", Saul replies strictly without any emotion in his voice so I nod. 

"If we're nothing more than little soldiers to you, then ask someone else. My dad already wanted me to his little soldier fairy already. Plus, I don't have to prove my loyalty to someone who lies to me." "Scar, you're walking on thin ice. Don't dare starting a fight", Saul warns me but I shrug laughing. 

"Me? You perfectly preempted me", I laugh frustrated and leave the room. I don't care if him or Sky call after me. I'm done with this bullshit. Saul wasn't completely honest about our dad or his injury although we were worried sick and he wasn't honest about Beatrix or Bloom. He can make them trust himself.
