"It's much easier to not talk about it and run away."

"You look pretty in that dress", Riven compliments me as we leave the apartment and go to the car, "Much better than the other one and much better without the long sleeve." "I admit, you have taste in style", I chuckle and hook my arm up his, "I'm glad you made me re-think my decision." "I'm glad you've let me help you."

"Thanks for helping me", I reply smiling, "After all that's happened, I'm glad that you're still here." "We've been friends before, S. We're going to stay friends forever, no matter what happens. Hey, how about we sit down at the beach at the country club first? We're early and we could need an hour off." "That sounds great, Riv. My mom starts working in three hours anyways so we still have plenty of time. Let's have some fun first."

Riven and I arrive at the country club about half an hour later. They immediately send us to the receptionist who asks if we want to join this club as he's never seen us before in this place. As he gives me a pen, I accidently touch his hand to manipulate his mind.

Rosalind may not have seen how strong my powers are, but I could feel how they've changed during the past months. I can not only see memories or feel emotions, but manipulate others' thoughts.

I don't usually make use of this power, but this time, it's more important to find my mom than to make someone even richer just because we're here for a few hours. I make him believe that we're friends of the club's owner and he nods politely. Perfect. Riven and I get a towel each and a drink immediately. "The beach's still empty, let's get down there", Riven suggests and I agree following him.

Riven and I take our drink and go to the beach to sit down on a lounger and lay in the sun. It's weird enyoing the sun not being at Alfea. We're used to strict timetables during the week. Dad would probably freak out if he could see us now.

"Are you afraid of seeing your mom?", Riven suddenly asks me raising his sunglasses to look at me. "Somehow, I'm completely chill. I'm just excited to see her, not afraid. Saul seemed to have had great memories with her so I believe his judgment."

"He said the same about Andreas", Riven argues and I nod. "He did but I think he was feeling guilty and maybe he's right. Maybe dad has saved so many lives that we cannot compare it to Asterdale. I'm only angry about dad when it comes to this family, not about his acts as a soldier."

"I just don't want you to get hurt by them." "Thanks, Riv. But I feel like I'm a lot more chill than last year. I know I still have to work on my emotions a lot but I don't care about you and Beatrix, for example", I shrug. "Beatrix and I are not dating."

"What is it with you, her and Dane?", I wonder. "I don't know. I think we all just try something out and have some fun." "Or they both like you and fight for your attention but you don't want to decide", I add smirking as his reaction shows me that I'm right.

He tries to avoid this topic so he can just have fun until it gets too serious. "You shouldn't run away from it", I advise him but Riven gasps playfully and throws sand at me, "Hey!" I quickly rush my hand through my hair just to make sure to get the sand out of it.

My hair probably looks bad from rushing through it so I put it in a bun. Great, now everyone can see my scar. That's why I usually wear my hair open. I'm just glad I don't care about the people here.

"Says you, little miss can't decide", Riven mocks me, "I've seen you with Silva's brother and I know that I'm still in the game." "What makes you so sure?", I ask. "I wasn't the one who's lied to you and I'm pretty sure you know that you can still count on me compared to someone else who's left."

"I told him to leave", I admit nodding as if I had to convince myself, "I couldn't see him anymore. Not after everything's that happened." "Do you regret it?", Riven asks softly and I look at him seriously.

"I don't regret having some time for myself but I think I could have been nicer. I was hurt and pretty harsh towards him. That's not what he deserves." "Do you miss him?", Riven continues so I sigh. "Riv, I don't think that that's something we should talk about."

"We're still friends and I assume you haven't spoken to Sky or anyone else about it. You need to talk about it for once." "Yeah, but maybe that's something I should talk to a female friend about." "I don't see any of the girls around. You haven't even told them, have you?"

I roll my eyes as Riven knows me too well. That's why I don't like letting people in. "They've got their own problems", I argue, "And I try to avoid this topic." "Come on, Scar, I won't let you get away with running away from your emotions."

"Says the one who makes out with Dane and Beatrix and doesn't think about the reason behind this", I mock him. "I didn't say I'm better at talking about my problems", Riven chuckles, "But I know the reason behind it. I just don't talk about it. Do you know the reason behind your mixed feelings for Stephen?"

"Stephen and I are complicated, okay? It starts with him being older, Saul being his brother and ends with me not wanting to decide." "Scar of Eraklyon, have you just admitted your feelings?", Riven gasps playfully so I hit his arm.

"I'll never talk to you again, Mr. know-it-all", I snap at him playfully and stand up, "Mom is going to start working in half an hour. How about we go back and eat something?" "Sure, Ms. avoiding-my-problems", Riven mocks me but takes my hand as we go back to the hall.
