"King and queen - they have to lead a whole nation, in good and in bad times."
As soon as what sounded like Bloom, Stella, Aisha and Terra eliminating Sebastian is over, Sky's hand moves. How is that possible? Actually, it doesn't matter. Sky's hand slightly squeezes ours. I take a look at mom and she is just as shocked as me but in a good way.
Sky opens his eyes and we don't hesitate to fall over him. "Sky", mom whispers, "Thank god." "What happened?", he replies confused. "You were.. well, it seemed like you were dead", I admit still overwhelmed by what's happened. Beatrix hasn't killed him. She must have made it look like it so Bloom wouldn't give away the dragon's flame and now she's dead.
Sky's alive. Mom's here. The girls seem to be physically fine. The specialists. What about Saul, Stephen and Riven? All of us hurry outside - at least as fast as we can with Sky still feeling weak - to see if anyone needs help and do the best that we can.
The students aren't manipulated anymore and they got their magic back. Well.. except for Flora but we'd figure out a way to get her magic back. Before I can realize what's happening, Riven's already pulled me into his arms.
"Thank god you're safe", he whispers against my hairs leaving a warm feeling on my skin. I open my eyes and see Saul running over to mom. I've never seen him so soft around a woman. "Is anyone hurt?", I ask Riven anxiously but he shakes his head slowly.
"A little but not seriously. Some cuts and bruises but they'll be fine." Riven looks at me waiting for an answer but I've got no idea what to say. I wish I could just go to bed and wake up tomorrow morning and realize that it's all just been a dream. But no, this is reality. Students fighting in a war.
"What happened with Sebastian?", Rivens asks knowing I wouldn't just blurt out the whole story. "Sebastian is mom's brother", I whisper thinly, "He was." "He's dead?" "I assume he's dead. I.. I wasn't with the girls. I mean, I was there.. but we thought Sky was dead-"
"What, how? But he's here?" I sigh knowing that I would have to tell him what happened exactly although I don't feel like talking about it already. I'm still replaying Sebastian's words in my head. You wouldn't kill your uncle. You were lucky our parents were able to hide you in the first world, Olivia.
"Sky was chained by Sebastian to make Bloom give him the dragon's flame but Beatrix came. She was trying to help. We thought she betrayed us and maybe she did but she came back. She's used her lightnings to make it look like Sky was dead. Mom and I stayed with him but Bloom and the girls fought against Sebastian. She was trying to help."
I don't look at Riven. I can't believe Beatrix is gone. We weren't that close like her and Stella but I developed and began to understand and actually like her. "Where is she?" "Sebastian killed her", I admit and see Riven blinking sadly for a moment. He quickly drops the sad look on his face and nods.
"Hey", Stephen says softly when he's approached us, "I don't mean to interrupt you, just want to know how you feel. Olivia told Saul and I what happened." "I don't know to be honest." "You should go to bed, Scar."
"No, I'm fine. I'll help you fixing up the wounded students." "Scar-" "It's fine if you don't want to be alone", Riven promises me, "You can help us but you'll go sleep afterwards, alright?" I simply agree. Any minute that I can stay here longer, is fine.
It's been a week, a emotionally draining one. When I finally started to process what's happened, Bloom left. I paused my own process of dealing with the past weeks to talk to my brother about Bloom and our family.
Sky hasn't mentioned dad at all but I think he's handling it a lot better thanks to dad being an ass in the beginning. Sky's lucky he doesn't remember the past. After Rosalind's death, her influence of me washed away.
I was finally able to control my magic the way I do it but it also means that I remember everything that Rosalind made me forget. Plus, Sky doesn't have dad's blood on his hands. It seems like, after forgiving Saul, he felt a lot better.
It's just Bloom this time so we try to spend a lot of time together, especially with mom and Saul as well. They're giving it a try. Well, mom and Saul said they're giving it a try but we all know that they're endgame so there's no need to be skeptical just because they feel like it's too early. I believe dad would be actually glad that Saul takes care of mom. During the day, mom and I train our magic and I work out with the specialists like I used to.
Now that this war is over, I also have to make a decision. I still feel numb sometimes and I wish Sebastian could have told us more about this family, but I knew that I have to move on. The situation can't be changed anymore and there are still two people waiting for me to tell them about my feelings although it's not easy. I wanted to be with Stephen so bad before all of this happened. He's my first love and he's always been there. But I also ruined it with Riven before we had an actual chance to be together and he's the one I forget about my worries when I'm with him.
I would talk to mom after breakfast about my decision just because I'm glad that I finally have her around me to discuss those things. It's sunday, two weeks after it all happened. Mom, dad, Stephen, Sky and I began having breakfast together every Sunday morning. Mom's idea, of course. I've decided to talk to Stephen and Riven in the afternoon. It'd be hard to hurt one of them but it hurts a lot more to not tell them what I feel and they've already been so patient.
"What's going on outside?", mom asks Saul as he's moved closer to the window but furls his eyebrows. "Soldiers from Eraklyon have arrived", he tells us and we all look around confused. The fight against Sebastian is over, that's not the reason for their arrival.
"Your grandfather hasn't talked to me in a week. I'll go downstairs to see what they plan", Saul decides but we follow him. It's been a while since I've seen anyone from Eraklyon. I wonder what's happened that soldiers arrive here without Saul knowing. It must be important. I just hope that there's not a fight as well. I might not be in Eraklyon very often, but it's still my home.
"Christian, what brings you here?", Saul asks the soldiers' leader, his voice so light they must know and like each other. "We're here to inform you that King Harold has passed away last night. He suffered an heart attack and any help came too late as it's been at night. We're sorry for the loss", Christian states making my jaw drop.
Grandfather has passed away. Last time that I've spoken to him, he sounded fine. He told me he had no health issues. Still, heart attacks aren't predictable. "Thank you but are you coming with three other soldiers to tell us the news?", Sky asks confused and surprisingly stable.
Well, the good thing is that it's only been a health issue. Grandfather hasn't been killed. He was able to live a good life. Christian turns to me and Saul and mom imitate his reaction with a knowing look on their face. What the..
"The next leader in line is you, Scar. You're going to be the queen of Eraklyon." I have to digest those news first. I know there's no way out and I was supposed to be queen someday, I just didn't expect it now. At least, it makes the conversation with Stephen and Riven irrelevant. I'm going to move to Eraklyon and be queen and there's no way out.
